  1. I think we can say by now that Eric Morris is good with QBs (And I bet you that Chandler Morris will not look better next year than he did this year). That is a super important skill in coaching. However, he still needs to prove a thing or two for the whole rest, including actually on offense as well as defense, because it feels that not all parts of the offense work nearly as well as the QB, and sometimes he appears to be too focused on getting the QBs good numbers rather than having the overall offense being maximally efficient at scoring points. And that is before we talk about the defense. I am hopeful though, that he has learnt some of his lesson there and that the new hires on that side of the ball are indeed better. They don't even need to be great, just average, and EMs teams might be conference championship contenders.
  2. The kid played great. and i think given the proper development, him being the starter next season could be a very ok outcome for UNT. He appears to be a "gamer" who has a lovely arm. That said, while i agree with your assessment of TOs 1 and 3, I saw that second turnover differently. For me that second TO is at least partially on the QB . Yes protection was not great (but in my memory it was not nearly as bad as you describe it), but I still feel like he was trying to accomplish something that was obviously not there on that play, rather than just take a checkdown in a situation where taking the checkdown is fully ok.
  3. Mestemaker started out great poised and all. But as the game went on, he started to be too confident in the time he has and look for developing routes instead of going 1,2, checkdown. He needs to get back to the heady play he had at the start, hero ball is not smart.
  4. Disagree. A filed goal from there is definitely not a gimme. Also, the first down is right there if the WR just understands where the sticks are.
  5. Receiver was not smart....but the refs were still wrong. They have been terrible all game in both directions.
  6. Defense starting to show its warts, where people are in the exactly the rght place... and then proceed to not bring the runner down.
  7. F it. jinxed it I guess
  8. what I actually like the most, is that he doesn't try stupid hero ball, but is willing to just throw it away or fall on it if necessary
  9. The refs are terrible. Tendentially it has been in UNTs favor so far. But there is plenty of time for that to change.
  10. Yeah he does. I don't necessarily love the footwork, but the poise and the arm strength and accuracy downfield sure look really nice
  11. what I like too, is that he is starting to get the check-downs right.
  12. those throws, when he has a little time look pretty crisp
  13. zero second half points, still won. says something about the direction of both sides of the ball.
  14. snatching another defeat from the jaws of victory?
