North Texas Fun Facts: Their mascot is named Scrappy the Eagle. They have a Spirit Bell (the original one was made in Michigan, but had to be retired due to developing a crack) that is rung around the field to rally fans. Denton, Texas is where the main UNT campus resides, but there is a second campus in South Dallas.

Notable Mean Green Alumni: Meat Loaf (musician), "Stone Cold" Steve Austin (professional wrestler), Dr. Phil McGraw (psychologist), "Mean" Joe Greene (retired NFL defensive tackle)

Prediction: As ever, the Hoosiers make it extremely hard for me to pick their games, because they can never decide between inconsistent brilliance and inevitable failure. The game is at home, and it's against a non-Power 5 team, which should bode well for IU, but sadly we can never be too sure. I'm still picking Indiana to win 42-17, but the score could be just about anything, with either team winning.

      McNeese road trip?

      Is anyone planning - or thinking about - a road trip to Lake Charles? I realized today I'll be there Monday the 18th - making a casino trip Sunday thru Tuesday for my wife's birthday, so why not go?! I checked out the McNeese web site - tickets are only $10 or $15, and parking is free.       DRC: UNT hires new volleyball coach

      Does anyone know how many years Porter was signed for? Nearing the end of Year 3, the team had a tough nonconference schedule but started AAC play 3-0 only to have a mega collapse, losing their eighth of ten tonight against FAU to fall to 8-16, 5-8.I have not heard of any major injuries.

      Bye week bad?

      Interesting bit of information from the Cal/WF game. The WF coach did a study going back 20 years and the team coming off a bye week was at a disadvantage in the game following the bye week. Due to getting out of a routine…at least that’s the thought as to why.
