What we learned from La. Tech's win over North Texas

1. Tech proved UL Lafayette wasn't a fluke I'm sure there will be some people that say North Texas is/was overrated after losing big to Texas then beating up on a bad SMU team last weekend, but that seems irrelevant. Although North Texas was picked to win the C-USA West title by the coaches, Tulsa was also picked to win it in 2013 before finishing 3-9. But no matter how bad North Texas looked, the Mean Green are still expected to compete for the West crown with Rice, Texas-San Antonio and now Tech.

Thursday's game wasn't even close. After Cody Sokol hit Josh Gaston in the flat for a second-quarter touchdown, the rout was on. Tech went up 21-0 at halftime and put it on cruise control for the win.

The Bulldogs dominated the trenches and made the Mean Green's offense look dumbfounded for nearly 60 minutes.

The Bulldogs did not dominate the trenches. They did dominate the game, but it wasn't because of the trenches.

The offense being limited to just the run for majority of the game was what broke the team. That meant bad field position on defense and special teams. That also meant the defense having to play the vast majority of the game as well.

The passing game can't move the ball. ..... two reasons... receivers often not that open and QB could find or hit them when they were.. If that improves... then the running game would also.

I think we also learned our D will get tired if the offense can't do more that 3 and out.
