Lol, that's funny. But what's not funny is our QB/recruiting/coaching/offensive philosophy situation. It's actually disturbing. It's funny how most of you got babied into this BS philosophy with a win over a middle of the pack MW team. Now it has "earned" him at least 3 years to hopefully not drown our (not his) program. GMG

I have no problem with questioning any coaches decisions. That's what fans do. I am disappointed with our QB play and don't know why Coach Mac is so set on not giving DW a shot. I also agree that we have yet to sign and develop a top flight QB under Mac's tenure. That's something that has to change. That being said, Coach McCartney is the best thing to happen to UNT football since Hayden Fry. I acknowledge the great bowl run under Coach Dickey but the program was in better shape than the mess McCartney found when he got here. If you watch and listen to what Mac preaches to his players, you understand that we have a REAL D1 football coach leading our program and I have complete confidence that he will get things fixed. Remember we have an extremely young team that will only get better. Mac has EARNED our trust. I'm not at practice or in meetings so I don't know the whole story with DW but hopefully the light will go on for him and he will seize there opportunity that is setting there for him to take over this offense. Go Mean Green!

I agree with your entire post.

I'm not cussing any one person out. I'm not cussing anyone out for that matter. I'm just pissed off at this coaching staff and pissed off at some in here that have the audacity to come on here and defend the garbage we have been watching.

You've been here about a year? Man, you need to calm down because you're on a one way trip to a heart attack my friend. This is Mean Green football, where we all live for the annual kick to the crotch. Last year was a successful year, very rare around these parts. You've got to take it all in stride...

I'd tap the brakes on idolizing Mac. So far he has won a bowl game with just about every contributor (aside from some OLs) being Dodge recruits. A lot will be told by what happens in the next 2 years. A 3-9 or 2-10 record this season would not bode well for Mac.

Also, his inflexibility cost us games last year. It may cost us games again this year.

The jury has been out about 10 minutes on Mac's tenure. Time will tell.

Although, I do think it is telling about how long this program has wondered in the wilderness that so many people are ready to elect Mac to the hall of fame after one semi-successful season (we didn't win a conference championship. Hell, we didn't even win the division, and failed miserably when we had a chance to do just that against an inferior opponent at home). Lets see what he does with his recruits. This year and next before anointing him king of football forever.

^ is what pushes people away from this program and turns them into t-shirt fans. Don't take what I say out of context. I am not legitimately pissed. Just frustrated. But I can't find it in myself to say "this is Mean Green football." Aka, expect disappointment and bathe in the rare years that is winning. I can't do that, and won't.

Is this guy for real? I'm so confused.

Either he has his soul riding on this season or this is a gimmick.

I think "Ben Gooding" is really a conspiracy to deplete the -1 reserves of the board. Harry is going to let the market crash, and then begin charging for additional -1s.

I don't know why no one acknowledged this, but this is hilarious. I have a source who heard from a source who will neither confirm or deny this rumor.

The heading says 'Tee Goree' and the only mention is the word He in the first thread. So far, we're on the third page. I wouldn't mind seeing Tee play this year if we can find someone who can get the ball to him.

Hey seriously though, Tee should get some PT soon. With the new QB starting and what not our WR's will be tapping out for a breather.

Oh and I didn't put "son of unt90" on there. That was someone else. I could care less what is up there though. I'm not here to stroke peoples ego in order for my +1's to be up. - me or + me, I don't care. Bottom line is we better see DW starting on Saturday.

Personally I'm not idolizing or suggesting he belongs in the HOF, but I do think he's earned a little slack considering what he's done for the program. We were one of the worst teams in the nation before he got here.

Doesn't mean I think he's without faults, just that it's better being a Mean Green fan now than it was 4 years ago. I just think it's very premature to start a "Get rid of Mac" campaign. (Not that you're suggesting it, but others seem to think we'd be better off without him). And you always have to think, "Who are we going to bring in that's better?"

I do agree with the last sentence in both your first and last paragraph. As a matter of fact, if we finish with 5 wins or less, he looses some of that slack I mentioned earlier. If he does it two years in a row, he might be out of slack.

Indeed, time will tell.

Don't expect disappointment, but keep reality in check.

Oh Dear LORD. He put "Son of UNT90" on his avatar? How long has that been there and how did I miss this?

Mike... Smh... What have you done?

Come on, now. We all have black sheep in the family. Ben is my loud mouthed child that often screams before he thinks.

I have hope that with a little tough love, we can turn him into a productive member of GMG.com. Much like this current team, he shows flashes of brilliance before the immaturity takes over again.

Guess I'm gonna have to put him back in 3 point stance time out.

From most accounts, it seems like both Williams and Means have the potential to do well in the program if given the opportunity to develop. We can certainly look enviously at other QBs around the league and around the nation, but that doesn't help us in the here-and-now.

Any coach needs players who fit their system, and when they do, the results often follow - see Thompson last year. I want to see DW given the opportunity to see that he can play within Mac's philosophy.

After the debacle of the Dodge era, Mac was able to turn it around almost immediately. Five wins first year, four wins the second year, then nine wins last year. This season hasn't gotten away yet, and there is still time for surprises. But unless something changes at QB we're going to find it difficult to win games.

Let's put this in perspective...the hot shot quarterback that you wanted us to offer led his team to a worse defeat at the hands of OSU than the Missouri State quarterback did the week before ...and Missouri State is FCS.

Lets put this in perspective.

The kid is a true freshman and Coker apparently thinks enough of him to burn his shirt and get him a ton of reps in garbage time against a P5 power.

Time will tell, but I think this could turn out to be a terrible decision on this kid by our coaches.
