Should have brought his HS QB with him to North Texas. I just watched him play his first offensive series of his collegiate career. He looks fluid and he has a little pep in his step. Led utsa to their first td of the game in the mid 3rd quarter in Stillwater. Way to drop the ball Mac and Co on this guy!!! Bravo!!!

He wanted to come here. We didnt offer.

It will be interesting to see how he ends up doing. The fact that he is playing as a true freshman says that Cocker thinks a lot of him.

Maybe we should just offer who ever UTSA offers at QB. Can't do any worse.

I'm not mad either, but was an offer even put on the table? We must have saw him while scouting, right?

We passed on him. Too short. Mac has only offered tall qbs (6'2"+, usually 6'3"+).

Bogenschutz did come here for a junior day. Coach Mac wants a tall qb so we can run power under center and play action. Tall qbs can see over the line better. If you run a shotgun predicated offense it can mask the disadvantage of being a short qb. But that's not Mac's style.

That's not enrirely true. What makes it really hard recruiting a qb here is that Coach Mccarney wants tall qbs. He wants a 6'3"+ qb who can run the offense and make throws from the pocket, without wanting to scramble and improvise. Basically what Thompson was.

Recruiting a qb here is hard enough, like you said. You need a qb to fall through the cracks and not get offered by the big schools, so that you either only have to beat out a few lower-level schools to land the kid, or no other schools at all.

Problem is, when a qb is 6'3"+ all of the big schools are going to give him a look. If a QB is 6'3"+ and is clearly a good qb, proving he plays like a D1 qb and doesn't just look like one, then he's going to have tons of offers from big schools.

Now sometimes if a QB is 6'1" or shorter he can be a good player yet still get passed up by the big schools for taller qbs. Kellen Moore fell to Boise State because he was 6' even. Jordan Lynch fell to Northern Illinois because he was 6' even. The best qb in our conference, Rakeem Cato fell to Marshall because, you guessed it, he's 6' tall.

I'm not saying good, tall qbs can't slip through the cracks to us, but it certainly is harder than a quality short qb getting passed up and falling to us. Hopefully Greer (and Mcnulty) prove last night was an aberration. But when a 6'5" qb who played for a strong-metroplex high school and a nationally ranked JUCO only has offers from schools like FIU, UAB, and us, you have to wonder why. Hope last night didn't prove why.

Best thing we can do is support Greer and Mcnulty and cheer like crazy for them next week. Still plenty of time to improve.

Wow!! He wanted to come here?!? And we said no thank you?? Hahahahahaha I remember when he committed to utsa either a utsa troll or one of our own came own here and said we would regret not landing this guy. 7 offensive plays which led to a td for utsa is better than ANYTHING that I have seen Greer or McNulty do.

How many of these threads are you guys going to do? It's the same sh*t in every thread.

Why are you here? If you don't like the threads or the comments in them, kick rocks. This is the forum of the diehards and when bullshit football is spewed out in front of us we call it what it is and expect changes. No, demand changes. Again, if you don't like it, kick rocks. GMG

Pick 6 to end the game. Can you post anything without rubbing someone wrong, Jr.?

Pick 6 to end the game, yeah you're right. But he showed flashes of potential. At his age that's all you ask for. As far as rubbing someone the wrong way, idgaf. I'm not here to make friends. I am here only and I mean only to put pressure on this behind their times coaching staff.

(Shit said on here reaches their ears, believe in that, trust me. It reaches Rick's ears too.)

I have no problem with questioning any coaches decisions. That's what fans do. I am disappointed with our QB play and don't know why Coach Mac is so set on not giving DW a shot. I also agree that we have yet to sign and develop a top flight QB under Mac's tenure. That's something that has to change. That being said, Coach McCartney is the best thing to happen to UNT football since Hayden Fry. I acknowledge the great bowl run under Coach Dickey but the program was in better shape than the mess McCartney found when he got here. If you watch and listen to what Mac preaches to his players, you understand that we have a REAL D1 football coach leading our program and I have complete confidence that he will get things fixed. Remember we have an extremely young team that will only get better. Mac has EARNED our trust. I'm not at practice or in meetings so I don't know the whole story with DW but hopefully the light will go on for him and he will seize there opportunity that is setting there for him to take over this offense. Go Mean Green!

Don't question Ben Gooding. He'll cuss you out and tell how bad our coaches are faster than Greer can lead us to a 3 and out.

Shark, you are absolutely correct, but do we know Mac can't recruit a QB? Williams could pan out and the early returns on Means were encouraging.

I'm not cussing any one person out. I'm not cussing anyone out for that matter. I'm just pissed off at this coaching staff and pissed off at some in here that have the audacity to come on here and defend the garbage we have been watching.
