Hey, while we're talking about attendance...

...seeing as how the attendance is shaping up as a downer for many of you again, I don't know whether to laugh at those of you who thought beer would drive attendance numbers higher or to just laugh at you.

I thought the "I can't go three hours without a piece of alcohol in my hand" crowd was supposed to be knocking down the gates now that North Texas has joined the realm of selling overpriced stadium beer.

Well, alcoholics, what gives? Where are you? Can't scrape together enough street corner money to afford a ticket in the wing AND buy that overpriced stadium beer?

We've got a stadium. It has both a football game and overpriced beer in it. So, what gives? Why you holding out on a brother?

Pathetic.

(And, remember...the lottery is going to fix the school financing mess. Just ask the ghost of Ann Richards, an expert on all mythological beliefs regarding lotteries and alcohol.)

Lonnie, the solution is obvious. We'll never get better attendance until we:

Upset an old SWC team (x2)

Build a new stadium

Join a better conference

Play other Texas teams that people have actually heard of

Get an exciting coach in here that Metroplex residents can get excited about

Bring in a proven D-1 coach with skins on the wall

Win our conference

String together a few winning seasons in a row

Win a bowl

Get home games with power conference schools (xSeveral)

Renew a series with a local team our alums know and hate

Really reach out to the students

Put up billboards

Run TV commercials

Get some guys in the NFL, ideally on the Cowboys

SELL BEER IN THE STADIUM

...and, um, other stuff.

Once we do that, our problems will solve themselves.

If nothing else, it's definitely increasing revenue.

If the posts about the young alumni section continue, though, I suspect we'll see the number of concessions cut in half to be only at the alumni side, probably with some beer tsar making sure nobody carries them back to the student side.

I still don't really care either way since I sit in the club and have been able to buy a beer all along, but I do think it's nice for there to be access for everyone.

Besides, I totes had chocolate brownie cheesecake with a blueberry garnish last night. You'll pry that out of my cold, dead, crappy game attending hands.

It's pretty simple, why is anyone surprised?

Kickoff at 11 and then Thursday game killed alumni attendance. As someone who lives south of the bridge, i35 is a nightmare at rush hour.

Nicholls St will be another challenge because its an FCS school. If we win that game and make Indiana a competitive game attendance will go back up
