It is extremely exciting.

Marshall and Ellis bring a speed to the edge at linebacker that is huge.

You have a TON of young guys playing on the defensive line -- sophomore Dutton Watson has been a big playmaker, but Sid Moore had a 10 yard sack against SMU and Jerrian Roberts, SC Wallace, Flusche, the list goes on and on... our best defensive end Daryl Mason hasn't even started in a game yet! Tillman Johnson has logged significant minutes in both the first two games and he's a true freshman...

Anthony Wallace has stepped up in a big way at middle linebacker and Fred Scott has been solid.

I am extremely excited to watch this defense develop!

Harry, Spot On! Almost can't wait for the defense to hit the field! And, special teams as well.... Will be tough test Thursday though.... Lots of fun! Gosh, we hit hard!

Go Mean Green!

Yep. SMU was tired of getting hit Saturday. Just completely physically dominated.

Actually, Tillman Johnson doesn't show up in the SMU participation report. Finally, Mustafa Haboul does.

Austin Orr also apparently missed out on the SMU game, and Mason just got some fitness work.

Either way, by my count so far we've played 12 different defensive linemen...7 of them at least listed as defensive tackles. You'll probably start to see that rotation tighten up a bit as the season progresses...say Lincoln, Watson, Orr and Moore getting most of the work inside with Wallace seeing 10 plays a game....Polk, Roberts and Mason at end with whoever of Flusche/Dilonga/Johnson trio has earned a few more snaps....but the experience they're all gaining now is invaluable.

Tillman definitely played I saw him - those participation reports are not always accurate.

It spart of what Coach Mac does--you build up the lines and you get hard-hitting LBs and safeties for the defense and strong running backs for the offense. While everyone goes to the stupid flag-football spread offense that makes a game last 5 hours, we just pound you into the ground. It gets to where replacing starters gets easier because the process is in place to replace them with similar builds and strength in each of those spots.

It feels like the mindset of the Seattle Seahawks in Denton. Aggressive, physical play on teams' receivers/tight ends to prevent the passing game from establishing a rhythm. Saturday, we saw several flags thrown against us but we also saw an opposing offense that never saw its groove and ultimately that frustration showed.

If only we could find our Russell Wilson.

Haven't we heard that we only recruit tall QBs, so Russell would be too short, no?

Someone here confirmed this. I wish Mac wouldn't limit his recruiting pool like that...

Orr played. Just look at the TV replay and you can see him in on a number of plays. Someone botched the participation report badly. Tillman played as well.
