Everyone knew this was coming.

A 36 point loss to UNT with a bye week after is certain death for a Pony coach.

If only we did the same thing when we lose to a D2 school...

I would be more sure that he was forced to resign. And if that were so, I believe that would be a huge mistake for the little ponies. He is the best thing happen to them in 25 years.

Was the best thing. Now he is not the guy as you saw. Our players just looked lost. His time was over long ago.

Perhaps, but it is only a season and a half ago you went to a bowl game. Something no other coach could do for you in the relevant era. It may be a knee jerk reaction. Sometimes, getting what you want can make things worse.

He's been on the down slide for a long time. The media coverage is only just reporting that now but the SMU fans have known ever since the ASU debacle.

Worst

1. Arizona State debacle — Jones almost left SMU back in 2011 when he accepted an offer to become Arizona State’s head coach. But the offer was ultimately pulled after public outrage, and Jones awkwardly ended up back on the Hilltop. A multitude of fans never forgave Jones for this incident, which was the start of his downward spiral. Questions about his commitment to the program continued to pop up over the next three years.

I kinda wish we could've had some little discussions with our (very loosely defined) "coach" when we were giving up fifty points by halftime to transitional Sunbelt schools.

We had to wait it out. Credit where credit is due to the ponies for taking definitive action instead of jerking it for years and years covered in a thin veil of listing ships with empty galleys.
