I think this will be a weekly topic here. Every announcer usually says something strange or off.

The next thing they talked about was the ever-fudged story of the nickname Mean Green coming after Mean Joe green. Sigh...

the announcers also just said that we are named after Joe Greene and not the other way around... This is how that rumor has gotten propagated and it's never gonna die.

It seems to me that the Sports Information Department is in charge of this mis-information. the Sports Information Director should provide correct stats for these hired gun annnouncers. After all, they only know what they know. After providing a list of stats and traditions, the SID needs to sit down with these out-of-towners and make sure they know the correct nafme of the school, and where in the world the Mean Green nickname came from.

GO MEAN GREEN

You would think RV would have them at least get this one right, maybe he does not get it?

If we can't get this correct how can we expect TV too?

You could make a case, depending on how you interpret Sydney Graham's explanations to various sources, that we are named because of Greene. I still say no matter what we are definitely not named after him. He was Big Joe when he played here, and he was not Mean Joe Greene until he was drafted by Pitt and their local media confused the moniker.

Fry did not help matters. Being the consummate NT salesman above being a great coach, he was happy to milk that for all the attention it gave UNT, even at the expense of truths. It's in his biography.

I think there will always be semantics involved, unfortunately.

You can't blame the TV announcers misinformation on Eric Capper. There's a reason why they're assigned a 11am Saturday NT vs. SMU game on TV. It's not Cappers job to make sure they do their home work & preparation before the game. Blame it on the Fox producer. All that type of info is in the media guide so the "talent" didn't do their job.

It is Eric Kapper's job to provide this information. More and more, it appears he only spends time on Twitter.

Being a staffer under RV is one of the easiest jobs in sports. May not pay too much, but what you don't get in money, you get in job security.

If you're not a young, blonde female you'll never get a chance to be a sideline reporter. I don't like the direction Fox sports is going with hot, sexy female sideline reporters. It's not the WWF.

Really athletic girl too though, not just a pretty face. Former Florida bball player.

Yep, but a 25 year old female hasn't paid her dues yet to earn my respect. She's there on her looks.
