You know, I think he also won a national championship at Floroda, but I'm not real certain...

Well, I dunno know about Floroda, but if you simply ask him "How you doing today?", or "What's up with this Texas weather, huh?", he'll let you know about the one he won at Florida.

Dan McCarney has done wonders for North Texas. No question about it. Wouldn't trade him for anyone else right now.

Thanks to all the coaches for your efforts in changing the perception of UNT. Your work, progress, and goals are deeply appreciated despite what some on this board may portray.

So, just so I'm clear, if Art Briles or Will Muschamp or Chip Kelly walked into RV's office and said "I want to coach North Texas" you think the answer should be "you haven't won enough bowl games to coach here"?

If that's not what you're saying then your comparison is irrelevant and you have mastered trolling.

Better question for that list is how many of them are 31 games under .500 and make $500k a yr at the hardest job in American Collegiate Athletics

Well several of them may be coaching in actual hell, so I'd say even there, they have a leg up.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen the line on Bill Walsh's Hades Tech Raiders vs. Dana Bibles' Fightin' Ironics this weekend? I don't have ESPN 3, but plan to follow it on my phone.

Don't overlook that bowl games numbers have climbed. It is a lot easier now, in fact about half the teams playing get into bowl games

It's like Texas high school playoffs, my team finished tied for first and second a couple of years and sit home.

Chizik at Iowa State, Chizik at Auburn.

It's harder to win at some schools. McCarney pulled off a Snyder/K-State-like turnaround at Iowa State. Both were very crappy jobs and programs in the Big 8, the worst at the time.

McCarney did a great job at Iowa State, and he's doing a great job here.

Our misfortune is history. Money has taken over to the nth degree in college athletics. We were rule-followers; good guys. The thieving entities are now in control of the whole thing. They don't want any football versions of Butler or Gonzaga stealing their thunder - and, dollars - during the postseason.

I'm thankful for McCartney. Again, having lived through I-AA football during my time at UNT, I'm thankful for what we have now.

Looking forward to McCarney adding another bowl win to his record at the end of this season.

A journey of a thousand miles begins when the alarm clock goes off early, you get out of bed, pee, shower, shave, dress, eat a bowl of figgy oatmeal, and begin foot stepping in the direction of the journey's end.

I like oatmeal.
