You guys...

...you have to stop bitching about SMU and Army. You people were on here practically demanding that we get a series up with SMU, and what a great historic trip you had to West Point and would love to make it a regular thing. Okay?

And, so on SMU and Army, Rick gave the masses what the wanted.

You can bitch and complain about the rest. I won't because I've already hewed to building it like Snyder at K-State - more OOC winnable home games, less going out on the road to get smoked by traditional powers.

I personally didn't clamor for this series with SMU--I wanted to set our sites higher than them. They are a fine OOC game, but I'd rather play TCU or Baylor than them, but now that we have them, its fine. They just aren't what I expected to be the marquee home game when Apogee got built. But its fine. My point was that Fouts could've handled, albeit decrepitally since it was a toilet, the OOC schedule we have delivered to season ticket holders so far. We just were told we would have the ability to attract games in Denton that are more highly regarded. The masses may have wanted it, but I was more TFLF circa 2006 regarding Todd Dodge on the series myself.

Iowa...sheesh

Yeah, cause god forbid people want to support our athletic programs that aren't as popular as that pigskin game.

Do those sports make money? If not, then they don't need to be a focus at all at UNT right now. Hell, it pisses me off that we have to play texas, OU, LSU, Bama, etc...because of those non-revenue sports having to be paid for.

If I didn't know before, I know now: scheduling anyone we want IS as easy as it is on the video game, just tell them that they are on the schedule and that's that.

I hate giving other people a chance at success too.

I didn't know it was so hard that we can't even match up with ULM, either...

I like giving people a chance at success...

You're right, every situation is the same and no other variables exist that would prevent us from doing the exact same thing.

You do like giving people a chance at success, as long as they play football.

See? You don't want to pay for those other sports leading to a dissolution of the program. Hard to be successful as a program when there is no program.

Hey chief, I never said I hated paying for these sports. I said I hate that we have to play UT, OU, LSU, Bama,etc..so that they can exist here.

And, no, you cannot focus on them above football or basketball at this school at this time with our budget constraints.

That's a bit different from saying I want soccer or track to go away.

Others have found a way with less resources.

Excuses, excuses, excuses.

Your phrasing was not indicative of that. And we all hate these games until we win one, then everyone will be glad we did because we were able to get a signature win. Hard to do that if we never play them. Not saying I like these games much, but it does give us something of a gauge of where the team is on a larger scale.

I take it that you plan on applying to be our AD when RV is no longer here since you already know how to create a great schedule and can overcome any objection by others? I look forward to your reign oh great and powerful leader.

FOUR HOME GAMES CURRENTLY SCHEDULED FOR NEXT YEAR.

It isn't my job to do his job. I have a job. I want him to do a BETTER job at doing HIS job.

It's about results. Period. Or we could be the Cowboys, go with "the process" theory, and be terrible forever.

Oh wait, we just did that...

I'm sure you'd be a popular guy with our soccer team if that's your opinion regarding our "other" sports.

oh god...I guess you weren't done...Saint UNTFan23...our very own "soccer guy & other sports" Martyr...

hey...I love sports and so does most every other sports crazed fanatic on this sports obsessed board...but the reality of college athletics is that "football" drives the train and does the heavy lifting. It's "football" that funds and carries the rest of the other sports...

UTSA isn't really paying Arizona to come to the Dome. Technically they are but that is off-set by what they paid us to go to Tucson in '13 and what they will pay for us to go back in '15. People are so opposed to 2 for 1s but they are better than 1 for nones imo.

Not sure why other sports are being discussed but UTSA has very solid track and baseball programs.
