Last meeting: September 2, 2006, Texas 56 North Texas 7

We lost great players and we will see more great players again. So if there is any improvement -Yes! There is improvement...the score is not 50, 60, or 70 pts.

I think we are making progress - a slight set back with players gone but we are going to have to rebuild again.

Exactly, well said. This is what coach Mac talks about all the time, it's not okay to lose. We could and should have done better tonight, mostly at the QB spot. Some players and most of the team gave their all Edited by MeanGreen01

Actually it's not that I don't expect alot out of life - but I am sure Dan expects more as a head coach and doesn't expect to lose either - get real look who they lost last year?!?

But I do expect better support from a true fan not just the season when they get a bowl win?

Yea- I'm sure the team (kids) already feels bad. I'll say it again I hope these posts don't make it to FB UNT site. I have my masters and I'm not dumb. But I'm tired of seeing man children whining ...pull-up your big girl panties and know Dan will turn things around like he did the first time. Sports aren't for the weak minded..

Check the predictions thread, most here expected to lose. None expected to see the worst QB play in NT history to come about. Texas will not win the Big 12 and stumble into a bowl game this year. Their QB & skilled position players are average at best.

Here are a few positives:

Our leading passer was 2-11 8 yards and 2 interceptions (this negative is a positive bc score should have been 50-60)

We had 8 first downs....8

We had less than 100 yards total offense

3 interceptions (one for TD) one deep in our own territory

2 bs penalties that kept drives alive and led to scores

Scored 0 offensive touchdowns

Got not caused 2 turnovers 1 we picked up in the end zone

We only lost 38-7 which says a hell of a lot about our Defense

      It's basically the same as ours: 24-25: none 23-24: St John's, LSU, Mississippi State 22-23: none 21-22: Kansas, Miami 20-21: Arkansas, Mississippi State, West Virginia 19-20: Arkansas, Oklahoma They played 12 high majors in that span. We played 10. Two of their high major games were Oregon State who is no longer a high-major so I did not count them as one for us. We also played St Mary's who's consistently been a top 25 team for years.

      UNT enrollment declining

      I'm sure the Master's programs that UNT is seeing enrollment drops in are the university's top profit center. Their student population probably uses the least amount of on-campus resources during the program compared to undergrads and PhDs, and they're probably overpaying or seeing less student aid usage to be in the programs. The flip side of the coin is that it's entirely possible that people are starting to realize that employers don't really care about Master's level paper as much as they did 20+ years ago. As the state of the world is going this week, if there is a prolonged economic downturn and a depressed hiring market for undergrads, most universities generally see an uptick in kids graduating and keeping on with it into a Master's program. I would advise undergrads that they're lighting money on fire, but if you can't find a job or start paying on loans, it can seem like a real option to keep learning. Will it result in a higher level of pay once they first time enter the workforce? Probably not, especially in today's world of AI threatening lower entry-level jobs, and H-1Bs threatening the rest. But the average Gen X parents will still push University degrees as a solution to all their unemployed kids' problems, just like the Boomer parents did before them.

      Great bar environment and even better seafood restaurant next door. If you want a killer Italian Meat sandwich, arrive early enough to get one from Enzo's next door. Points if you sneak it into the Wilfred. 😅 Kudos to getting them to change the door pincode. I think it had been set to the year of Woodstock since the Wilfred opened.
