This. But I too am obviously hoping this isn't the case.

Further, a lot has changed in the 26 years since we were robbed. Mainly, the entire landscape of college football. Every call can be scrutinized. We have instant replay. The calls in that game in 1988 wouldn't have ever stood up in today's game, and very likely wouldn't have even been made. I think it's harder than ever to "fix" a game. Too many eyes. Too much money.

Not saying it doesn't happen. Just saying, I have a hard time believing such egregious calls would/could be made in today's game. Gotta figure those officials like having a job -- and like many of us, would prefer to be known for doing the best job they can. If that makes me naive, I'm okay with it.

You must be young and un-corrupted. Ticky tack holding calls on the line and in the secondary can get called on almost any given play. The question is more about whether or not the refs call the game fairly for both sides. More often than not for UNT in Austin, this is not the case.

Hell, the game we played against KSU a couple of years ago turned on a NON-call. A KSU kickoff return for a TD that should have been called dead after a blatant block in the back sprung their returner along the sideline.

I'll personally never again travel to Austin to see us play UT. I just don't believe we should be playing UT. If the game is close, they've proven time and again that they'll screw us. That's pretty true for most of the Big 12. I'd rather see us go the Boise route and schedule other G5 schools, with a once a year trip to a P5 school that is outside our region. Ie: I like the Clemson and Georgia games---not UT and OU.

This is true.

I'm neither young, nor uncorrupted. Just realistic and unwilling to put the blame of our ineptitude on the shoulders of others. We don't lose these games because of refs. We lose these games because we simply aren't as good.

When was the last time a game at UT was close? 26 years ago?

Hell, when was the last time a game at any elite P5 school was close? Georgia? We didn't almost beat Georgia; we lost by 17 points **edit, sorry, 24 points. We lost to Georgia by more points than we scored.**. We didn't lose to Georgia because of the refs. We lost at Georgia because we had no run game and our defense gave up 640 yards. Because we weren't as good as Georgia.

And if we lose to UT on Saturday, it won't be because of the refs. It will be simply because our team isn't as good as theirs.

You guys can keep playing the ref card and keep thinking the world is out to get UNT football. The reality is, UNT has only one entity to blame for its own shortcomings: itself.

Re-read my post. I didn't say we got screwed by Georgia. I said we get screwed specifically by UT and sometimes by the rest of the Big 12. I absolutely agree with you---we lose these games because we're not as good. It shouldn't take the refs stepping up to make calls that go against us. But it happens. Especially against Texas.
