I mean, they've beaten us by a combined score of 140-something to 7 the last 3 games we've played against them. That they'd even talk trash at all makes me feel like we've made some upward moves in the college football world.

''Go out and beat guys down,'' senior linebacker Derek Akunne said. ''That's what we're supposed to do, and that's what we plan on doing.''...

Yeah, don't have a problem with it. Both teams should feel the same way.

But Derek Akunne didn't say it. And sure, they should feel this way, but there's a difference between what you feel and what you say to a media outlet. NT players should absolutely view it as disrespectful and as motivation.

Ok. I hope they do. I just don't see it that way. I wish a UNT player WOULD say it to a media outlet, FWIW.

Really? That's bulletin board material? He didnt even mention us. What would you expect him to say?

This article didn't do as good of a job setting the context as the Startlegram:

Tailback Johnathan Gray, a former Aledo standout, said the Longhorns view UNT as “a great team” coming off a bowl victory, but cornerback Quandre Diggs indicated the sentiment is not universal.

“We want to be tough, be physical and beat guys down,” Diggs said. “That’s what we’re supposed to do and what we plan on doing.”

Here are some Charle Strong quotes for this week's press conference for the North Texas game. From the Austin American Stateman. Seems like they will try to shut down our running game, but I think we have the O-line to run the ball. Strong says he wants Texas to return to a power running game. Our defense will need to be hitting hard on Saturday, and the front 7 need to win at the line of scrimmage, and force turnovers.

"The game is never about the opponent. It's about Texas."

"We want to make teams one-dimensional. We want a team to throw on every down."

Strong knew Mean Green Coach McCarney at Florida - "All he ate were Twizzlers and drank Coke." :thumbsu:

I agree. Our coach apparently isn't going to put any mojo in the air, why not one of our captains? It'll put the message out that North Texas is coming to play.
