Why let them know?

We all would live to know who takes the first snap against the Whorns. I mean I get it. We are fans we care we would like to know who to get behind.

But part of me gets why Mac is in no hurry. Obviously it keeps the competition going strong right up until the game.

More than that, and what I think is really driving it is -- why let Texas know who it's going to be? I mean, they are different guys, McNulty and Greer -- so why let the UT coaches know exactly who will be the guy?

UT has all the talent, they will own the refs and the crowd. Why give them something else?

Mac wants to keep them guessing. He sees no benefit in providing them a pin point of who they will defend against. I would bet that this could go on right up until game time. GMG

Because Texsa really won't have video of either guy in our system (sorry that little bit of McNulty the other year don't count), and they can't really prepare for either anyway. It is ok if it works , but as soon as it doesn't get us results, keeping the fans this much out of the loop eliminates benefit of the doubt. Unless he is winning why should I trust a coach, whose decisions I don't understand? Keeping your fan base as completely out of the loop as coach mac is, is a dangerous game.

oh and then there is the added benefit, that you can focus on 1 QB in preparation yourself, and don't have to split snaps all the time.
