The Zanesville native played college football for Drake and has been a graduate assistant or positions coach since 2000.

The journey has taken Joseph across the country, with his latest stop as the safeties coach and defensive recruiting coordinator for Indiana.

It all started with his upbringing in Muskingum County and learning from coaches such as Tom Evans.

Im grateful for this opportunity. I started at the bottom of the profession, doing the small jobs and putting in extra hours, Joseph said. I attribute my work ethic to my family background and growing up in Zanesville. I have worked as hard as I can to have these opportunities, but its been fun.

Joseph was a former Blue Devil, playing for Clarence Perry and Whit Parks before graduating in 1995.

He was a captain as a senior for Drake, where he still holds the school record for longest interception return. Joseph became a grad assistant with the program in 2000 and had the same position with Eastern Kentucky in 01 and Iowa State in 02 before earning his masters at Iowa State.

Josephs first coaching position was a defensive assistant with Eastern Illinois from 2003-06. He followed with a five-year stint at Montana State, then took a job with North Texas before the 2012 season. He developed two All-Conference USA players Marcus Trice and Lairamie Lee with the Mean Green and helped them to a 9-4 mark in 2013.

Mac mentioned on the broadcast on the UT network that Skladany was "nearing the end of his career." Kind of a weird statement and makes me wonder if Skladany is considering retirement after this season. While I hope he stays around for at least 5 more years, I wonder if Mac would consider bringing back Joseph as DC when Skladany leaves. Mac had very nice things to say about Joseph when he left for Indiana.

To be honest, going to Indiana may not have been the best way to continue "rising through the coaching ranks." If they don't show some significant progress this year, Kevin Wilson and staff will be gone.

Nojo was cool. I agree about Indiana. If they dont have a decent year, he may be looking again.

I could actually see nojo back with unt in the future. Perry Carter has NFL experience and ties. He's making 100k. Unt has a good year, I can see him being with unt only one year and moving on.

5-7 with wins over Penn St., Illinois, Purdue, and a convincing 42-10 win over a 10 win MAC champion Bowling Green team (who lost to Pitt be 3 in their bowl game).

At a university that has been terrible at football for decades and cares far more about basketball.

I don't think Wilson's job is in any immediate jeopardy.

That win over Penn State was huge. Illinois and Purdue have been absolutely awful.

If you don't think Kevin Wilson is on the hot seat, you certainly haven't been paying attention to what's going on in Bloomington. Not that you necessarily should, but this will be his last season if it is more of the same.

Admittedly I haven't. I believe he was in his first year when we played them here in Mac's first year, which means last year would have been the all important 3rd year for him.

I guess Indiana has decided to focus more on football. You just don't think of them as anything but a basketball school.
