College Gameday calling out Mean Green Fans

I ran it by the wife, and MeanGreenMan was shot down immediately. Maybe she could drop me off in Fort Worth and then Big & Rich can drive me down 35 in that bus. Of course, I'll strap my feet to the top of the bus so that cape catches some good wind action and drop the Talons on Baylor's new stadium. I may be able to make this happen yet...

I got this email from the Fort Wort Chamber of Commerce this afternoon. One thing different than the messages above, they are also looking for a crowd on Friday night! This could be fun for anyone not going to be in Austin.

ESPN will broadcast live from Sundance Square on Friday and Saturday, and we need your help. We are looking for 3,000 people to turn out on Friday and at least 10,000 people to turn out on Saturday during the broadcast and we need your help in getting to that number.

Here are some things you can do to help:

1. Please join us at Sundance Square from 1:00 til 2:00 on Friday. Would be great if you would wear either your alum colors or your favorite team’s colors in recognition of National College Colors Day. Be sure to look for Bill Thornton who’ll be wearing TCU purple.
2. If you spot Bill, take a photo and post it on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram. Our hashtag is #ftwchamber. We’ll draw three posts and give free attendance to one of our upcoming luncheons to those individuals. Be sure to let me know you posted.
3. Be at Sundance Square Saturday between 8:00 and 11:00 am for the live broadcast. This is when we hope to have 10,000 people there.
4. Go to our Facebook page and share the ESPN post from this afternoon.
5. Forward this e-mail to others and encourage them to be there.
6. If you have a group of people showing up, e-mail me group photos or selfies of you being there, or post them on our page. If you send me the photo to post, please include your name and company name in the e-mail so that I may tag you.

I'm not really a fan of GameDay. They hardly ever bother to mention North Texas on their program, and rarely speak about C-USA. Right now they're in love with the SEC. All they care about is trying to sell the new SEC Network. I hated having to watch our games on ESPN3, back when we were in the Sun Belt. ESPN put the HOD kickoff at 11a.m. and placed the game on ESPNU. Next season, they are moving the game from New Year's. I don't view ESPN as a friend of UNT or C-USA. Let Florida State and OSU's fans try and fill the square. Their programs are getting the big checks for the game. I'm going to be getting ready for North Texas and UT. Maybe GameDay will want to talk about North texas after our game with the Longhorns.

Exactly my thought. UNT shouldn't show up to support other programs. It's stupid. Let their own fans show up. They aren't going to ever do their show at our school, regardless of who we play, so why support their show and other universities? It's Busch League to show up and support their request. They just need warm bodies. We have our own game this weekend.

Yep, it's not like we are playing MTSU this week. We will be discussed on Gameday, especially with Charlie String taking over at UT.

I hope as many fans make it out there as possible. It's FREE NATIONAL PUBLICITY for UNT. Lets take advantage. Who knows, they may even show some highlights from the Georgia game to pump up the game for the Longhorn network.
