One of the big chiefs in town isn’t the mayor, a city council member or the school superintendent. He goes by Chief Flying Worm, though he’s better known as Todd Samuels.

“I graduated from the University of North Texas. In the ‘70s, the logo that they had was a stylized eagle that people nicknamed ‘The Flying Eagle’ because it looked kind of like a worm with wings,” Samuels said. “That’s where my nickname came from.”

Samuels, an Allen resident and employee of 7-Eleven’s corporate offices in downtown Dallas, serves as the chief of the Allen Indian Guides and Princesses program in town. The Allen branch is known as Caddo Nation, which is part of the larger Bear Creek Federation based in the Metroplex.

Wow Harry. I didn't realize that was out and hadn't seen the article yet. You have some mad Internet skills.

In related news, thanks to Eddie Delgado for setting up a special deal for our organization to purchase tickets to the North Texas / SMU game.
