If anybody hasn't "connected the dots" between all of the replies...since Ivies don't offer scholarships, there's the possibility that he would have had to take out loans and didn't want to. They have their own form of financial aid if you can't afford to go, but if it's determined that you don't have enough "need" then you have to come up with the cash. If his parents make too much for him to get decent aid but can't pay the price tag for an Ivy League school, it would make a lot of sense to head to Denton, especially if his major is one of our nationally ranked programs.
