Collegefootballpoll.com UNT Rankings (Reliable and Accurate Rankings)

This my absolute favorite ranking/prediction website. You can't get much more accurate than these guys. They have exactly predicted our record in the last 10 of 19 seasons, and only off a game or two for most other seasons. To give you an idea of just how accurate they are, for the last 19 seasons, we have gone 76-143, and their predictions for these 19 seasons were 80 - 139. You just don't get anymore accurate. They even predicted our massive turn around last season - they predicted us 9 -3 (we went 8 - 4).

Now for the good news: They have 8-4 and ranked #61 in the nation for this season. The bad news is that they have us losing to Texas by 15 points. They have us squeaking out a win against SMU with loses to UT, Indiana, Rice, and unfortunately UTSA.

I can definitely see it with Marshall. They're a Top-20 Team, imo. As for the Runnin' Chickens...don't see it at all. Unless their Opponents at the Alamodome just mindlessly stare at those 'Cute' San Antonio Women selling the Brewskies ...

That game in San Antonio 11/28 would be absolutely electric. Sure, this projection has us losing the game, but the lead up would be unlike anything we've seen in these parts (certainly of late). Heading south with a chance at the conference championship game? Sign me up.

That certainly reflects how I felt about the coaching. I feel like a hurry-up or quick offense would have sealed UTSA away, but the coaching staff didn't put that in until the last seconds of the game. Really, it felt like the coaches were allowing UTSA to dictate the speed of the game when the UNT coaches had opportunities to turn that around.

yes we did and the team laid a huge egg and the coaches coached a very piss poor game with a conference division title on the line, not expecting much difference in the Coker v. Mac rematch

Actually, it sounds like they've seen the same sort of rise as we have along a similar timetable. Only instead of a prolific defense like we tout, theirs is an obscene offense.

I don't know that UTSA is going to be this juggernaut running through our conference the way most are predicting. Soza was their best player, and it wasn't close. To me, he leaves the biggest shoes to fill in the entire conference. They return a ton of players, but the rest of that team is smallish for a FBS level team. Soza was an equalizer. Coker is still a great coach, and will have them prepared in every game. I do expect them be tough to beat, just due to the sheer numbers of guys from the 2-deep that they return. But 10-2?

I think we're going to end up somewhere around .500, but I'm calling for a win against UTSA. Our oline, who was embarrassed last year by them (justifiable---UTSA shutdown our run game), is going to make this a statement game.
