FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – With less than a month before the first home football game at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, the Arkansas Department of Athletics is introducing an exciting new addition of a new student club area for the 2014 season, the Razorback Rooftop.

The new Razorback Rooftop will provide University of Arkansas students an opportunity to sit together, socialize and mingle with friends while watching the best college football in the country. The Club will be located above the south end zone on the top deck which was used for student seating in past years.

The club will include two 20 ft. x 80 ft. tents that will house a live DJ, couches, TVs, high-top tables, with grab-and-go concession items available for purchase. While in the club, students will have chances to register to win great prizes and take part in other contests.

The Razorback Rooftop will be open to students who are current Access Pass holders who present their student ID and have a designated wristband. Up to 2,000 wristbands will be made available for each home game. Wristbands will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Are they referring to some of the visiting teams?

I think where I find this as a good idea is looking at the fact you can watch these games in crystal clear HD in air conditioning in the comfort of your own home at a fraction of the cost of attending the games when you factor in tickets and parking etc.. There is a downward trend in terms of attendance across the country and we are talking about places like Michigan, and the like...so you can try to reverse the trend or stand still.

I would love to see us do something like this with the Wing zone... like find a big sponsor that turns the Wing into a party zone providing free food and drinks and some extras to incentivize people to use those seats... let's face facts, the WIng is our last big challenge to fill up Apogee for the most part...

So to me - while I wish the game was enough as it is for most of us -- I also realize that we cannot just rely on that to fill the stadium. It is a market driven reality that we must address or we will get passed by from those who do address it! GMG

I'm all for enhancing the in-game atmosphere or offering something to entice people to fill up the wing - but cut the booze cruise festivities while our guys are out there on the field. Give me the MGB over DJ unce unce and stay on the hill if you don't like it.
