According to a report by Fox Sports, former Texas quarterback Vince Young has been hired by the University of Texas. The report states that Young will be working in the 'Division of Diversity and Community Engagement' department and will help incoming college students.

The report also states that the hire will be made official on Thursday and that the job pays in the 'six figures' range.by the University of Texas.

I believe that the line of thinking here was "He washed out of the NFL and has no actual skills that will lead him to gainful employment. The last thing we need is someone high profile like this on the street or everyone is going to question our lack of education for athletes. Also, better give him 6 figures, he does have lifestyle expectations."

1. was this position posted for employment, per Texas state law?

2. What is out there to stop school's from offering this type of deal to secure talent in the future? and what will stop prospects from securing these types of deals if their pro careers don't pan out?
