The Vols pay UAB $925,000 in 2015 for a Sept. 5 neutral-site meeting at LP Field in Nashville, $500,000 to Western Carolina and $750,000 to North Texas. Per the contract, Tennessee is designated as the home team in Nashville against UAB and the contest is considered a home game for the Vols.

When Tennessee moved its North Texas meeting from 2011 back to 2015, it cost the Vols an additional $150,000, going from an initial price of $600,000 to the current price of $750,000.

It would be interesting to know what are expenses are to travel to a game like this ie airfare, food, lodging etc...

I'd be willing to give them back their extra $150K, if they'd sign a "Home and Home" with us should we beat them.

How in the hell is UAB worth more than a game with us?

I had some thoughts on this, then I shot them all down as I wrote out my reply. So I arrived at: I really don't know.

Unless LP is kicking in some extra cash (or ticket prices are substantially higher), it doesn't seem to make much sense, as Neyland holds about 30k more people than LP Field.

At least we got an additional $150K for moving it back. Originally it was only for $600K which seems low to me. Then again Tennessee is pretty down, if we have a good season I could see them getting nervous about this game.

They might also fear us a bit more than they do UAB... ever think of that? Why pay more to a team that could very well come in and beat you in front of your ignorant fanbase (Tenn fans are delusional)

Last year South Alabama almost beat them.

It's a 2 and a half hour drive straight up I-65 from Birmingham to Nashville. Takes just as long as going from Denton to Fort Worth on a Friday afternoon.
