College Football is dead.

Ok a bit harsh with the title. But it's not just the new autnomy. What transpired in the judges decision on the Ed O'Bannon case seems even worse:

Schools are now all allowed to pay players up to 5000$ a year, and players will get money for their imaging rights. You can bet, that this amount is higher at big P5 schools, just by virtue of being more on TV etc.

This is looking bleak right now.

I'm hearing it will have to be capped at $20k in a trust and they only get the cash if they graduate.

That can't be right. Think of the Supreme court involving Vanna White. The court ruled that she had the right to her persona and for either just compensation or the right to deny her image and likeness. Similar to these college kids who don't want game companies or colleges to profit from their image without compensation. Graduation shouldn't be a factor. A cap may be constitutional, but not with a stipulation.
