Peck 'em Eagles!

A question for the older alums: Was "Peck 'em Eagles" something the students used to say way back when? My father insists that used to be something they used to say, like we say " Go Mean Green" today. Can someone confirm or deny?

Seems a bit silly to me, but so do a lot if the old school " sis boom bah" cheers that used to go on. Generational thing.

During the time that Corky Nelson was the coach, there was a "Cork'em Eagles" campaign. I still have a big button that is in my office.

That may be what he is thinking.

"Eat em up Coogs", is apparently a saying at UH, but I've never heard that as much as Go Coogs and the "Whose House/Coog's House" call and response.

I do think "Go Mean Green" is a great motto/saying/whatever.

I've never heard "peck 'em" but I've only been following NT football since the mid-sixties.

As far as the Corkey Nelson era, the only thing I recall being said was "I hear ya" which was an expression Corkey used during press conferences.

Went to all home (plus three road) games '64 season through '68 season, and never heard that yell.
