2014 UNT roster with updated weights

My thought exactly. I worry about injuries after bulking up like that. IIRC Jamario had hamstring issues after the weight gain for the rest of his career. Am I way off base on that or was it his knees?

One of the worst decisions in NT football history was to bulk Jamario up. If it ain't broke don't fix it. What could have been.

Right on both accounts. It was his hammy and a terrible decision, he was never the same after that.

Been wanting to chime in on this and have some time this morning. Here are some impressions after reviewing the roster:

5 Matthew Dash DB 6-0 194 JR -- not a giant, but at 6-0 194 he is one of our bigger guys in the secondary. Would like to see him be a headhunter alongside Lee.

Love seeing the Jackson brothers (Rashad, Vershad) on the official roster! Both of these guys are good athletes and could help us on special teams right away.

Andrew Simons is an intriguing frosh DB addition. 6-1 198 with legit speed as he won his district 100 meters with a 10.59

DE Andy Flusche is listed at 6-3, 261 and that's a big boost as he brings some sarge like size to defensive end that we need.

DE Daryl Mason is down from 260 to 247 which probably helps his speed. He is a KEY player for us this season.

in the interesting and hybrid "DL" position we have Sid Moore at 257. Sounding like he could play end and tackle depending on the situation. He's probably one of the most anticipated additions to the team this Fall.

I was concerned not to see our friend deep snapper listed on the roster but was then relieved to see on his twitter account he was enrolled at UNT.. maybe an error or grayshirting? If his daddy is reading I hope to see you guys at Tony's Tailgate for SMU.

Mustafa Haboul - up to 6-0, 267 .... this kid is a weight room phenom and I can't wait to see him play this season. I think he is REALLY going to surprise some people. He has really bought in and done his work in the weight room.

Kaydon Kirby --- 6-3, 329! Seems like he was right about 300 last season... if he stays healthy he could be one of the more beastly centers we have had.

Bo Pullin - 6-5, 320 ... good size for a true frosh...

Harrison Sorge is way slimmed down at 6-5, 305

Travis Ellard at 6-3, 256 -- should they consider moving him to blocking tight end?

I noticed that Josh Cousins is listed at QB and not Quinn Shanbour. Cousins, as some may recall signed with former UNT and NE Oklahoma Coach Kenny Evans out of high school but wanted to play D-I ball. Shanbour still has a picture of Apogee on his twitter so it could just be an error that he is not listed.

Love seeing Josh Greer at 6-5, 220 -- that's D-I QB size. That will serve him well this season. Just wish Dajon could add some poundage too.

Terrance Johnson is an intriguing walk on tight end from Austin McNeil listed at 6-4, 229. He's a really good athlete, great basketball player.

TE Wylie Rheinhardt listed at 275 last roster now 266

Interesting to see some new grad assistants, Tristan Burge who signed with Green Bay as a free agent; Victor Gill who was a good offensive lineman that played under Dickey; Spencer Brown an SMU grad who will hopefully bleed green when we play them and Chris Clevenger who from I can tell is a kicking specialist who hails from Moody Alabama...

That is all!
