Want to give a shout out to a new GMG site member, Ross Von Erich. Ross is the son of Kevin Von Erich, who played football at North Texas. I follow Kevin on twitter @KevinVonErich and I know he remains a very loyal Mean Green supporter and fan. He now lives in a paradise in Hawaii and puts some amazing pictures and stories up from his adventures and time spent there.

As many know, the Von Erich family is known as the first family of Texas wrestling and many of us grew up watching them on TV.

Here's an article from Kevin's return to the area back in June that ran in the Dallas Morning News from Robert Wilonsky: http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2014/05/kevin-von-erich-to-make-rare-return-to-north-texas-to-introduce-his-sons-to-a-national-audience.html/

Thanks to Ross for joining with us on here and we look forward to following your career. Go Mean Green!

Welcome aboard. Grandpa Fritz would come through the drive through at chick quick on Eagle drive and order with the "Iron Claw". It never got old. He would even say "Do you know who I am?".

Funny, North Texas and my grandfather Fritz almost worked out some kind of claw/caw relationship back when my dad and uncle were playing ball. Would've been pretty neat had it panned out anyways.

My dad loved playing for Coach Fry. He did some big things during his time as coach. Had the privilege of meeting him a few times myself.

Anyway, just a big fan of the football program and coach Mac. Looking forward to this upcoming season! Thanks again for the warm welcome, guys. GMG!

Ross, welcome! I did many jumps off the top bunk of my bed top turnbuckle with my brothers impersonating your dad and your uncles growing up. And nothing shut up a pesky little brother like threatening to give him the Iron Claw.

So awesome!

And I agree with Stan R -- none of us would be the guys we are today without the early WWF or (in my opinion) the even more-awesome WCCW. My dad, my brothers and I would tune in every Saturday night and watch what went down at the Sportatorium.

It's an honor to have you here, Ross.

Thank you!

If you can ever make it to a game , I'm sure a lot of people on here ( myself included) would love to host you at their tailgate.

I was reading up on Fritz this afternoon.. I didn't realize he went to SMU!!

Cool, definitely something I plan on doing. I have a show in mesquite in a couple months it'd be great to go see a NT game (they dont air the games here in hawaii). Until then I guess I'll be watching online.

Yeah, he did go to smu to play football and throw discus. My dad was close to going there also but ended up following Coach Fry to North Texas. GMG!
