AUSTIN -- Two University of Texas football players have been charged with sexual assault.

Kendall Sanders, a junior wide receiver from Athens, is charged with sexual assault and improper photography. Montrel Meander, a sophomore wide receiver from Amarillo, is charged with sexual assault.

Officials say the charges come from an incident on June 21 at the San Jacinto Dormitory.

KVUE reported in June that two football players were being questioned in the alleged assault, but UT police would not release their names at the time. UT police told KVUE that the two players and the alleged victim all knew each other.

With like a minute extra of thought... i shouldn't be joking. This is a big deal. I hope the university takes appropriate measures in dealing with these two.

"We are obviously very troubled by these allegations. We do not condone this kind of behavior by any Longhorn. After we have performed a vigorous internal investigation, which these players deserve because we are a family, we will cooperate fully with the police. Clearly these players misunderstood Commissioner Bowlsby's remarks but I am certain our boosters will help educate them."

What does this mean?

Bowlsby said recently "cheating pays". I'm sure their boosters can explain to them that he wasn't talking about sexual assault unless you are literally willing to pay for silence.

This entire statement makes no sense. Are they not going to cooperate with the police until they have performed their internal investigation? Does the commissioner have the final say here or the boosters?
