The Orlando Sentinel ranked North Texas #62 in their preseason rankings.

Eric Capper said he believes this is the highest pre-season ranking we've received from this publication in modern era.

Great ranking! And considering our many leadership losses it says a lot about the growth of the team.

"From this publication in the modern ear" sure is a lot of qualifiers! Eric would have sounded better to just say it's the "good."

Opening up at 62 is really good. If we can maintain and not lay any unexpected eggs a top 50 finish is doable. Pending on position performance we could go 9-3 and potentially flirt with the top 25. GMG

As of this morning (Tuesday June 24) North Texas will be ranked no lower that 69 in the USAToday poll.

Maybe a top 50 pre season ranking is not so unrealistic after all.

He makes a very good point that we all know. As many questions as our QB spot has, having arguably one of the best lines in the nation will do us just fine in developing and improving on offense. I think we can match last season's record if not improve on it. As long as the defense can at least somewhat match the production of last year. Pass defense will be a plus now we just need the front seven to go with it
