SANTA FE’S PRESTON, CHOCTAW’S LLANUSA PICK UP FIRST OFFERS

Two state football prospects broke through with their first Division I offers this week.

Edmond Santa Fe defensive back Ashton Preston’s offer came from North Texas on Wednesday.

Preston, who is 5-foot-11 and 179 pounds, announced the offer via Twitter.

“Finally Just received my First offer from The University of North Texas!” he tweeted.

Preston had 18 tackles and an interception last season for the Wolves.

Billy, good talk in the PM. Kid can ball. Tackling will need to be tightened up but that's what a freshman year is for.

Yup. He did make a decent tackle on our 2014 signee Jalen Adams in his highlights. He has the tools. Like you said, tackling is very fixable. Just hope we can hang onto him if the bigger schools offer rather than just show interest.

We've had this conversation since he commited , but he'll flip. Might not even be to SMU, but I'll be very surprised if he signs with us

That said , I'd love it if we can hang on to him

Yup. Hard to call him a commit, with a straight face. Who else ends up offering is huge. If it's just SMU we have a chance. But like you said, hopefully we get him because he would be among our most talented signees.

The thought of SMU getting Preston and Mccrary from us is hard to stomach.

Does anyone else sense that the outcome of this SMU game in terms of who wins and how good the crowd is could have an impact on a number of recruits we are battling them for? This type of situation is just another in a long line of reasons why Coach Mac is so adamant that we sell out Apogee. If we can show superior fan support it could help us win more of these types of battles.
