NORTH TEXAS

Football: A

The Mean Green might have been the best football team in C-USA this year with an impressive nine-win season.

Basketball: C-

Johnny Jones had a good thing going at North Texas before he left for LSU. North Texas was as mediocre as it gets with a 16-16 record this year.

Baseball: Does not play

OVERALL: B

Not really. Reads like something he put together in an hour.

Vito mentioned that this was a typical summer project type story. If by project he meant cranking out a story as fast as possible so the writer can head to the beach then he's right on.

Lets see everyone is a B or C, but Old Dominion who rates an A.

First the obvious, ratings based only on football, baseball and men's basketball is not the same as overall athletic performance. He also appears to be mixing rating between actually the best performance and performance versus expectations. Two very different standards.

Certainly not complaining about NT's grade. Calling the basketball team mediocre is very generous, and no baseball could have put NT lower. The only A to ODC who doesn't yet even compete in CUSA football, and wasn't anything special in basketball is puzzling.

I wasn't speaking to the accuracy but just interesting to get another person's take on the teams in the conference.

That's just it. He simply writes down the win/loss record, types a few words, and slaps a grade. No analysis, nothing in-depth, nothing insightful. It's a waste of time reading it.

Not sure how UNT and UTSA were given higher grades in football than Rice. I mean, they did win the conference. I get that we exceeded most people's expectations, but still doesn't make sense.
