Went on a California recruiting road trip. Visited San Diego State (who offered) and Fresno State (who had already offered prior. Seems like his parents had him hold off on his commitment so he could weigh all his options. Hopefully we're still on top.

8. Myles Cheatum and Jake Barber, Cedar Park, DE – While Cheatum has more collegiate offers (from North Texas and Louisiana Tech) than Barber, both players are the anchors of Williamson County’s most dominant defensive line. Both earned all-district accolades in 2013 and create matchup problems on the edge.

Visited this weekend. Pulling this guy would really be a good one. Add Cheatum, Sam Miller, Wegmann, maybe a true nose (like Saluone out of Utah?), and the grayshirts Shaq Jackson and Jon Graham and we have a really nice haul of guys to develop behind a solid, young d-line.

Pretty cool article on Cheatum. Very well spoken and sharp kid. Interesting to note that he said he was 263 lbs and cut down to 250. He's huge, and he's also pretty athletic, not to mention I think his strength is his power in his upper body. Really hoping we can get him, and good to hear we're in his top 3.

This one really does hurt. A legitimate head-to-head victory for TSU over us. Not just a guy we offered at one point. Holding out a little hope we can flip him, since we flipped Tillman Johnson from them last year and Wylie Reinhardt from them the year before.

Kind of weird that he didn't say he was close to making a decision in his article with the statesman, and there is absolutely nothing about it on his twitter. In fact, he even said he wasn't done taking visits in that article. But if this sticks, that's a tough loss.

Kind of weird

I mean, who wouldn't want to play on a middling team in the Sunbelt...

I wonder if chance for early playing time had anything to do with it?

I though about Dustin McWhorter too. Dustin committed to the Mean Green at the Friday Night Lights event.

Dustin has been committed to North Texas long before the FNL event.

Dustin told the staff he would play DT too.

To me, McWhorter was the type of player NT was looking for! I was hoping NT would gain commitments from

both players!

Now, Texas State has both McWhorter and Cheathum on their side!

I have some friends in Graham TX. The entire town supports their football program. I have heard several comments for my friends.

I do not think NT will be able to recruit Graham any time soon. North Texas is not popular in Graham TX right now.

This is great. Joy to the blessed World. How does this happen?!?!? Really, how? I can't seem to create a good explanation in my head as to how this is happening? If we can't out recruit these type of schools for these kind of players we will not be successful. McWhorter and Cheathum were suppose to be our future saving grace on the DL. Pitiful.

Not freaking out by the way, but this is a hugggee concern during the McCarney era.

Yes, this one was a head to head victory by Texas State over us. Mcwhorter, on the other hand, they didn't outrecruit us there. He tried to commit to us and we said we didn't want and wouldn't take him. But Cheatum is a huge loss.
