MGB: The story on Darren Denucci (with player comment)

So it sounds like he went on his mission during the 2010 & 2011 seasons. Then, the question is: Did he play at Snow in 2012, then sit 2013? Or, did he sit in 2012 and play in 2013?

The article kinda makes it sound like he backed out of his Nevada commitment late in the process in 2012 and maybe didn't play that year. If so, and he played last season, then I don't see why he wouldn't have a fantastic shot at starting at Tackle if they want to move Lemon back to Guard. If he sat out last season, then it's going to be an uphill battle for him.

"UAB, Southern Miss and La. Tech, Nevada, New Mexico State and UTSA all offered scholarships, while several other programs were showing interest, including some Big 12 and Pac-12 schools."

That's pretty good...this is a really nice pickup from the outside looking in. Time will tell (Manu)...

But I get the feeling that this staff and this program is starting to hit their recruiting stride. This recruiting class will be fun. GMG

Just to be argumentative, NT should beat all those schools for recruits most of the time. The truth however is quite different.

Since there seems to be confusion, between this article and the previous information from other threads, it sounds like this is his timeline:

2009: Graduated

2010-2011: Church mission

2012: Snow

2013: DNP

2014: UNT recruits, has 3 years to play 3.

Is that right?

Sounds right. But...now they are saying that he may not play in 2014 due to injury. Unless he can get a medical hardship he will only have two years left. And...if he gets the medical hardship he will be a 27 year old senior. Shades of Sarge McCoy!

If he's all he sounds like, even if we only get 2 years out of him it sounds like it will be a scholarship well-used. But hopefully if the injury is a problem, he will get the waiver when the NCAA receives the paperwork from North Texas.
