CUSA Champions to pick Bowl Game

Don't know how you do this. Doesn't the other side want to know who they are playing? Also, isn't that the Bowl's decision? Wpuld every bowl CUSA is associated with be ok not knowing what place CUSA team they are going to get and agree to left the conference champ pick their poison?

Seems like a lot of issues to work through.

Not really new. WAC did this. The champ was guaranteed a bowl, not a specific bowl and they sort of just ironed it all out. Unless you have a real showpiece game like the Liberty was with an SEC opponent or the MWC's deal in Las Vegas where they play the Pac-12 it makes better sense to just keep it flexible and go for the game that works best for the champ. ODU or FIU probably would see playing in Texas as a bust for being champion unless it was an appealing match-up.

I think this is genius, if it can be implemented. UNT loves the HoD Bowl. UTEP would love the New Mexico Bowl. FAU will host the Boca Raton Bowl. FIU will love the Miami Beach Bowl at Marlins Park. Rice, La Tech, and USM would love the NO Bowl. MUTS, WKU, and UAB would love the St. Petersburg Bowl. No one will like the Bahamas Bowl and a lot of teams will probably pray that they aren't chosen by the Hawaii Bowl. Many of them, especially La Tech, would love the bowl game in Shreveport over either of those other two games, if for no other reason than getting a berth in that game means you probably are facing either a SEC or ACC team, unless the play their cards to avoid playing a lowly CUSA team.

The HoD Bowl last year showed just how special it is to have a bowl game in close proximity to your school and its fans. I've seen Motor City Bowl Games with Central Michigan that are sellouts, where as when its involving Buffalo or some other MAC outpost, its not even half full. It would be great if a perk to winning the CUSA Championship is getting to pick your preferred bowl game.
