I saw these things just outside Nevada a couple weeks ago and wondered what they were. Well, it turns out that they're further proof that not burning dead dinosaurs is indeed fatal to present day birds.

The plant is a "mega-trap" for birds: The focused light attracts the avians, and then fries them in midair.

That looks like what I saw recently about something in South America. If it's the same thing, then it's full of molten salt (around 1000deg F) that is circulated around to drive a steam turbine. Pretty cool. Didn't know that it also makes fried chicken. Double bonus!!!
