To his credit, Jacobs III turned in record numbers as one of the nation’s most fierce dual-threat athletes, having amassed 3,550 yards passing and a team-best 1,250 yards rushing. Add to the fact that he garnered a team-record 44 touchdowns and it’s no wonder a plethora of scouts are hastening to Shawnee to witness all of the hoopla surrounding this blue-chip prospect.

“John Jacobs has lighting feet,” former NFL offensive tackle Jack Peavey, the assistant athletic director at Oklahoma Baptist University, said of Jacobs III. “He is the hardest working quarterback in Oklahoma. Nobody put in more hours of quarterback training or (weight) lifting in preparation for his future. I have seen him play for the last two years. He refuses to lose.”

Fortunately for Jacobs III, college scouts have taken notice of his have-no-fear demeanor and resilience on the field.

That’s because Jacobs III has already received offers from Troy State and Alabama-Birmingham. Such a list figures to increase considerably in the coming months, given he has generated interests from numerous schools, most notably Memphis, Nevada, West Virginia, Texas, Utah State, Louisiana Tech, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, North Texas, Minnesota, and San Diego State, among others.

I'm almost 100% sure this is the kid that played ball with my son at Cypress Christian School in 8th grade.....

Good catch, appears you were correct:

August 26, 2010

The middle school A team got on the score board first and never looked back. Francis Ajibero ran all over the field scoring a touch down and the QB, John Jacobs had a rushing TD while completing some passes. Will Echols returned a kickoff for a TD and a host of Warriors played some great defense for an opening game on the road. The MS team will have a week off before traveling to Bay Area and hosting Pin Oak Middle School for the B team.

He was only at Cypress Christian in 8th grade, then I heard he went to Navasota High School in Navasota, Texas. I'm not sure when he left there to go to play in OK. I'm not sure if that was about his dad transferring because of work or looking for a better football program. His dad was very driven to help him go to the next level even in 8th grade.
