La Tech QB Scotty Young giving up football

Excuse me for having an old man memory, but did he start last year? I know he was the starter coming out of fall practice, but I seem to recall he was injured when we played?

He had head injury early in the year. They never reported it as a concussion , but it was a nasty hit. Wouldn't surprise me if that played a factor in his decision

I have seen so many Denton high school players leave Denton and try their luck at a "big" school. the huge majority of them never see the field. I wish more would stay here and actually see some playing time instead of carrying a clipboard for 4 years.

I can't speak for anybody but me, however, when I was 18 staying at home was the last thing I wanted to do. Can't really fault a guy for wanting to change his scenery away from his family.

Also, he had Big 12 talent...he just drew a bad hand with Leach leaving, not being Tuberville's guy and then going through the same thing at La Tech. Don't blame him at all for going out to Lubbock like he did. He had interest in coming here too (rather than the transfer to LT) but Dan wasn't wanting to move in that direction.
