I'd be bitter too if my school's team had such a poor performance when I think about how much it cost. All that money spent on a team that could barely beat a Big Sky team and 3 teams that never got more than 3 wins all season. I'd be real damn bitter when my poor neighbors to the north brought over 30k to a bowl game in my hometown when my team can't even give tickets away.

All those who think the Sept. 6th date with the evil empire otherwise known as SMU is just another non- conference game need to see what a big win could do toward making UNT the team of the metroplex.

Personally I could care less about titles like "Metroplex's Team" or any other title. I want our team to beat the crap out of SMU. Their six or seven fans in attendance will be really angry when we stomp them.

agreed...let's set our sights higher. They're just another week...a stepping stone to bowl eligibility and a primer for a run through conference where we have to prove we can sustain. I'd like to see us be above prodding the rivalry. This long home and home stretch will be fun, don't get me wrong...but I hope by the thick of this series with them we won't be pedestaling unnecessarily.

Great article. I love hearing Coach Mac talk. He is one of the most positive individuals inside and outside of football but at the same time a realist. I am looking forward to seeing this team continue to build confidence, depth, and consistency along with the addition of increased fan support. Increased traffic and tail gaiters in Denton for UNT football? Yes please. GMG!

Well, by some logic, I can see how coach Mac's comment could be correct, such as "he couldn't beg 100 people to come, but 2600 people came anyway". But people at work have told me before that I should quit trying to make sense out of things that don't.

You know, like "this was the smallest, slowest team in FBS when I got here."

Or "we are really going to open up the offense" every Spring.

Along with about a million other things Mac has said since he got here. It's just what college football coaches do. Use the media to transmit their own message.

the bigger the fish, the better the story...

i've always considered Mac to be a car salesman first and a coach second... he is still proving to me that he knows X's and O's very well, but i can guarantee you that if he says something, i am listening. because he's energetic, engaging and encouraging...

the bigger audience he has, the more exposure we get, and if he can continue to grow this program, i don't mind his exaggerated stories about his first year here
