Bret, quit crediting DT so much. Also, as far as being perfect at not losing games?? Uhhh...Tulane...Ohio..just to name 2 in his "hall of fame" senior season. 1:1 TD/INT ratio people...1:1!!!!!!!!! Also, 2500 yards passing is nothing to hang ones head about, but it is certainly not anything to hang your hat on.

As far as missing Brandon Byrd...his production will not be missed. His persona will be. RB has never, IMO, been a "leadership" position to start with. Pegram, Jimmerson, Evans, and Rollins will fill the on the field production void.

As for Brelan, his special teams production will sorely be missed.

Don't be so surprised Bret that DW is still in this thing. Athleticism, real athleticism (not 6 yard jogs out of bounds), talks.

I get tired head when I hear the notion that he didn't lose games. He did. A pick 6 in which we lose by as much definitely implies responsibility. Sometimes we suffer memory loss.

I don't know...I have kind of a different impression than some others. The Green team quarterbacks (McNulty and Greer) combined to throw for 369 yards at 62.5% completion with one touchdown and no interceptions. Considering that they played 48 minutes instead of 60, that extrapolates to 461 yards in a normal length game. Both were out of synch with their receivers at times, but that's to be expected at this stage of the offseason. So, I thought they actually exceeded expectations.

Like the guy I brought to the game, I was impressed by Greer's passing. I think he needs to work on his decision making ability, I.e., throw it away when there's nothing there.

Yes, we sure do. Like forgetting DT was only allowed to throw downfield on 3rd down in the first half of the game you mention, when he wasn't forced to throw screen passes that everyone knew were coming.

Mark my words. No matter who starts this year, by mid season, just about every UNT fan will be longing for DT to be back under center.

And I will chuckle.

1:1. I don't care what the play calling was, the coaches didn't cause him to have a career 1:1. His leadership will be missed no doubt. He was a long time starter, 5th yr senior. But I'm not or will I ever buy into the notion of people thinking he is irreplaceable. The QB's looked good today IMO. They ran more power plays with Greer and less shotgun, much like with Thompson. With McNulty in they operated a little more out of the gun and implemented zone reads (or just zone runs) and ran PA off of it. I think they are more comfortable with Greer to be honest. McNulty looked a little more decisive not including the opening offensive series. They both need to work the check down much better.

DT was not perfect but the kid had heart. He overcame adversity to lead us to a bowl game and a winning season. We are going to miss him more than you will think.

Our defense and special teams pretty much led us to our winning season. I've said this before.....if our offense had performed and produced like our defense last year we would have been 12-0 going into the bowl selection portion of our season.

Qbs played decent considering the wind. I did not see anything that would indicate that we would have a drop off at qb from last year. They both seemed capable of running the offense and at least a DT type season.

Darius Terrell looked good until he seperated his shoulder. He may add a different dynamic to the offense. They seemed to be confident in his matchups and throwing his way. He should be a difference maker and give us something we did not have last season.

The rbs look good. There will be no drop off there. IMO, I think it will be better. Evans looks nice. Has been fumbling this spring. Gotta work on that. He is going to be a difference maker and add another dimension we were missing last year.

Greer looked better to me because his release is quicker. I really dont think it will matter who the qb is. Its the system. Kidsey could have beaten that defense deep several times, and they never tried. We are not going to have an offense that allows the qb to make a play or trust the wr to make a play. Maybe theres an outside chance they will trust Terrell, but they only throw to WIDE open wrs. Even when our wrs had a step or two on a DB deep, it was not thrown. Very safe. Its a take what the defense give you system.

i hope that DW will be in it... because i wasnt impressed with our QBs today.

DW was starting to get a bit behind in spring practice before he had his ankle injury. None of the QB's looked like great choices yesterday, but I've noticed that McCarney's spring games don't provide very much in the way of fireworks for the QB position. I thought that McNulty looked better than he had in some of the earlier scrimmages. I thought that Greer still looked too deliberate and a bit unnatural in his throwing motion. IHMO, the best one out there as far as releasing the ball, arm strength, and mobility was Means. He also looked more comfortable out there than Greer.

So, after the spring game I would rank the QBs as 1. McNulty, 2. Means, 3. Greer.

11-1.

We would not have beaten Georgia.

When you run the ball on just about every 1st and 2nd down in the first half of the Ohio and Tulane game, you need to blame coaching and play calling, not "the offense."

Started out the same way against La. Tech and Ball St.

It's obvious by now that this is just Coach Mac's coaching philosophy, and it worked for 9 wins last year. But don't blame "the offense" for a lack of balance insisted upon by the coaches.

Well there are folks on here that are super pro-Thompson and people that are really pro-Mac. Somebody is to be blamed for the terrible performances against Tulane & Ohio, particularly the Tulane performance. I blame both personally, but I don't blame the coaching staff for throwing pick sixes. On a side note, our D will not be as good statistically and with this offensive "philosophy" we will lose games we have no business losing. Something's gotta give.

I think it's amazing that, when looking for a game where Mac's vanilla philosophy cost us, nobody points to the game against San A tonio Community College.

Also, it is true that we will miss DT. Just not because he was anything special. Little Mac is just that much less special.

Yes, philosophy lost us that game against utjuco, not DT. Expect similar games like that this upcoming year if Mac doesn't open his eyes. We don't have the athletes along the O or D line to keep this system afloat. We aren't Bama or LSU where they can recruit the biggest and quickest linemen in the country and then just outmuscle people. Systems like this at G5 schools backfire more times than not.

I'm still really optimistic about the upcoming season, but I am just not comfortable with the current system. It reminds me of the 2012 Florida Gators. Florida that year had a good season in terms of record, but every game was a dog fight that could have been lost. For example, they had to block a punt and return it for a TD to beat La-laf at home. There is no room for error with this philosophy.

Why 'da hell do we have to "blame" anyone????

It is a damned game, and sometimes you intercept - and sometimes you get intercepted. Sometimes you win; sometimes you lose - hopefully more often the former than the latter.

This crap of blaming players and coaches for not being perfect is just that - crap!!!

Jeez!

yeah, let's not hold people accountable. Let's be ranked 120 for the next 10 years again. Expectations and accountability are what make programs strive.

The expected McNultyism happened I think in the third quarter:

MiniMac goes to throw and slips it vertically in the air, fumbling and looking dumbfounded while doing so.

That''a the sort of unexpected QB play that I won't enjoy seeing. Greer or Dajon please.
