Two key bond rating agencies have downgraded the University of North Texas System’s ratings outlook from stable to negative, which could impact the estimated $120 million that UNT is scheduled to borrow later this year for the student union and housing projects.

All surrounding the recent announced budgetary situation. Short-term challenge...not a long term problem at all going forward. This was to be expected and should come as no surprise to anyone aware of how these things work with the rating agencies.

Just have to get the budget straight, present the plan, show progess in getting it handled and boom! Done! Ratings restored.

How long...too early to tell. Stay tuned, and stop fretting. Some want to make way more out of this than it actually in fact is, but, don't get me wrong. Not good at all, PR or other wise, but it is fixable and will have no lasting long term damage. UNT is bigger than this little challenge.

Let the belt-tightening begin...and don't pay attention to those screaming Armageddon!

The bond rating didn't change so no impact to the Union or Housing projects.

True!

It could lower demand for the bonds and make them not sell as fast. But they should still sell. The accounting issues should be monitored and fixed. When that happens, but negative outlook for go away. The fact there is a negative outlook does not there is some thoughts that the problems are being fixed quickly enough.
