I saw him today. He's the real deal size wise. He's every bit of 6-10 and big. Very nice young man. Would be a nice pickup for Benford.

Maybe we could convince him to walk on and sign Brooks. Then everyone wins.

Not sure if turning down a scholarship to EMU and having to pay tuition to walk on at UNT would be winning for Mr Bocoum

Saw Mr. Brooks today. I would welcome the addition.

Apparentlymy wife told me we had already made plans for the weekend... Something about being her birthday , I wasn't really listening. Anyway , I didn't make it out. How did Brooks look / do ?

Might I add why would three people think that the above comment is a bad idea? And could those 3 people explain to me why they would prefer Bacoom over Brooks? What do they know that we might not.

I don't know if he's one of the 3 (4 now), but NT03 answered you quite clearly. Posting within the realm of reality might get you a little less red.

Essentially I stated that I would prefer Brooks of Bacoom so I want to know why they would think Bacoom is better. It's true we might need the size, however in my opinion Brooks is the better player. If we could add both then it would be great. I honestly hope we land Brooks but Benford might want to make up for Colman and grab a big he can work in again.

You said convincing Bocoum to walk on and giving the scholly would be a win-win for everyone. 03 said that walking on here while passing up a scholly at EMU wouldn't be much of a win for him. He basically politely said, you're crazy if you think we have a shot at getting Bocoum as a walkon. No one said anything about Bocoum being a better option than Brooks. You've also point blank asked 03 who he would prefer, and he told you he preferred Brooks. Read this

Anyways, who knows if we even are close to getting Brooks anyways. Being pretty quiet on that front lately, so hard to tell if we still have a legit shot at him.

Why does anybody think the scholarship limit will have any effect on Benford? He finds a better player, someone's ship is just not renewed. I think Williams, Voss and Jones being productive seniors are probably safe, but anybody else I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly decide to turn pro.

What you are seeing is pure panic mode.

It's sad that this has been allowed to get to this point, but it's what we do at UNT.

They used a running clock, so the games were not that long for the number of guys to play. He looked and played like what we have seen on video. Only saw one outside shot (which he missed) but the guy can really drive to the bucket with explosion and tremendous jumping ability. Not as tall as I would like but he is powerfully built and strong. Not sure if you have seen King McClure (Dallas Triple A) but they look and play similarly. An NBA comparison (just in style) would be Dwayne Wade; where he is too strong for most defenders.

Many college coaches present. A board favorite, Danny Kaspar, was on hand. No UNT sighting the time I was there. Absolutely big men still available. Not sure about grades and/or character as to why they are still available. The talent was definitely there.

Thanks for the great insight. I've seen McClure a few times , really like his game.

Disappointing to hear no UNT coaches were on hand to watch him. I would assume that means we are no longer in the running/ interested

I hear we did have a coach in Arlington this weekend

The problem with the available big men is that they probably have multiple offers. Benford hasn't had much luck beating out schools for players, as evidenced by our 3 JUCO guard signees with no other offers. It's almost like he doesn't want to get into recruiting battles anymore.

For Bocoum, he has just Eastern Michigan to compete with. As 03 reminded me, Benford was unable to outrecruit Eastern Michigan for Olalekan Ajayi last year. So we'll see how this last spot gets filled. And yes, thanks for the info.

The 2-day tournament I am referencing was for guys who don't have any offers, small school offers and/or have not committed. (over 200) There was no reason for someone with multiple offers to play in this tournament. I got to believe there must be other issues because there were several D-1 mid-major talent there. (hence, several available big men) 1 guy I thought was a high-major talent
