My wife & I just saw the movie Noah. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a story powerfully told - with good acting, good plot, good message. It was thought-provoking.

Not too surprisingly, Ken ham of Answers in Genesis (and Bill Bye the Science Guy Debate fame), hated it.

I am disgusted. I am going to come right out and say it: this movie is disgusting and evil—paganism!

I'm interested in the responses of those of you who watched Noah. Do you agree with Ham?

I feel dirty—as if I have to somehow wash the evil off myself.

Oh! '90, I hope you don't see this as another climate change thread!

Lol.

I was going to ask if Hollywood presented the flood as a consequence of global warming. Really wouldn't surprise me.

It will be intersting to see how closely Hollywood followed the biblical script. I would guess not very.

Written and directed by a noted atheist. If you are looking for a biblical story, look elsewhere.

A noted atheist with a Jewish upbringing. I actually think Aronofsky's father was a Jewish scholar.

The film follows the gnostic Jewish version of the story more closely than anything.

As far as a mini-review goes (since I don't want to bore you with a 750 word essay) - I thought it was fascinating throughout. Maybe not always "good" IMHO, but definitely a hard flick to shake. Gives one a lot to think about.

What's a movie ticket go for in LA these days? It was $18 (Adult) here in San Diego when we took the grandkids to see Frozen in December. Crazy...just crazy. Can see the same movie for $6 in Denton.

Depends on the theater really. I'd say the going rate for full price is about 15 bucks - but there are a few theaters around that are cheaper. I happen to see a lot of stuff in Los Feliz (a hipster neighborhood of Los Angeles) - and there are two theaters there with matinees for $6.50. They're older theaters, but I don't care!

Do you live near Los Feliz? I'll be in LA over Memorial Day and staying in Los Feliz/SilverLake area.

That's what I'm seeing a lot of in reports. Less Biblical, more Jewish/Torah.

If you aren't the type that has to see it right when it is released:

West of the Rockies (Lewisville):

East of the Rockies (McKinney):

The McKinney one is where we take our young 'uns for all the kid flicks without having to pay high ticket prices. As a bonus, if you've got kids, it is really close to those Towne Lake Recreation Area across from McKinney High. They have playgrounds, picnic areas, walk/jog paths, and those Swan and Duck paddle boats. Great way to kill weekend hours with the kids (or, grandkids).
