...born in Dallas, Texas, was Jim Calhoun's assistant two years ago. It is not known if he was ever considered for a head basketball coaching position at any college prior to becoming the head coach of the University of Connecticut men's basketball program.

and what does this have to do with anything? just curious, i'm confused.

Good question. I don't know...just bored. Be patient with me, I'm old.

I was thinking of the contrasting comparative results of Uconn's hire and ours. I know, grabbing at straws. I really like the new baseball park photos though...

When you promote from within (wisely) off of a successful staff, there's no turnover, no rebuilding, no adapting to the culture, no "his guys", etc.

A guy may just flat out not be head coach material. But when you're hiring someone you already know and who already knows and succeeds at your institution, that's pretty much the only question you need to answer.

I always liked watching him play for the 76rs with Iverson on and Colman.

Maybe the UNT can make a move for Eduardo N.

Except he never played with Coleman...

Speaking of UCONN, did anyone see the NT athletics Facebook post about the sports psychologist that Benford has been bringing in also working with UCONN. Never went back to see if anyone asked why we weren't seeing similar improvement....

I did see that post. I'm hoping things look up next season especially if he visits us again.

I see no difference between Ollie and Benford when it comes to in game coaching. Ollie is doing what others complain about Benford doing. Only difference is Ollie is in shape so he moves a lot quicker. He was running up and down the floor screaming everything in the world (box out, double) and all sorts of hand gestures.

Does Ollie often inquire about the nutrition of his players' children?

I would say yes... It's not that in common for a coach to question what a player will do after their career is over. I think it's sad that somehow people think that it's a joke. I rather have 13 scholarship players who become productive and involved citizens then 13 players who win a national championship. Now if we can have both that would be fantastic. However mocking someone because they actually acre about young men's futures is unbelievably rude and immature.

If this is a troll post, you just won the internet.

If this was not a troll post, and you really think that Kevin Ollie and Tony Benford have anything in common coaching-wise beyond being black men who coach a basketball team, then you are still lost--just further away than ever before from reality.

I haven't seen Kevin Ollie rotate guys out like he is coaching the Hartford Whalers...can't say the same for Bumford. I've seen Kevin Ollie's team play physical defense and shoot well from the perimeter this tournament...I've never seen a Bumford team do that yet in two years.

I've seen UConn lose to SMU twice and Louisville three times, but defeat Florida twice, Michigan State, Villanova, and Cincinnati among others...I heard UNT lose to Alabama-Huntsville, lose to a three-win ULM team twice, lose by 35 at home to SFA, but I know that we beat Wayland Baptist, Northwood, and Texas A&M!! We are basically equal to UConn by your logic!!

UConn played a really nice game tonight. Don't believe Kentucky ever led, and UConn stopped every run the a Wildcats made. Pretty entertaining game and enjoyable to watch having no real interest in either team.

I guess Kentucky will now be looking for a complete new starting five for next season. Hello NBA!

Ollie is known to be a supreme X's an O's guy. So there is no real comparison.
