He is fast with the ball and we run a system that lends itself to assists,” Marquis said of Tyler’s offense that depends largely on having a point guard who can make quick decisions and passes that put teammates in position to score.

Well, we don't, so...

Another recruit with no other offers. Another JUCO. I hope this kid pans out.

Guess it's clear Benford is coaching to attempt to win now instead of building a program. Just what we need with 7 scholarships coming open after this next season.

Stupid, stupid mistake to retain him.

He may not be that good, but he has a good personality...great if we ever need someone to emcee a halftime show at the Super Pit.

To be a passer, he put up good numbers at Tyler. I know the majority of us are not fans of Benford, but let's give this young man a chance and not take our feelings out on him when they should be directed at the head coach.

Has nothing to do with this young man. Wish him the best. Hope he averages 40 plus and goes to the NBA.

Problem is he has zero other offers from any other D1 school. Which leads to the obvious question of what in the F are we doing on recruiting.

Want to see how far we have fallen? Take a look at Jordan Williams, Forrest Robinson, Chris Jones, Greg Wesley (recruited and signed before Benford ever coached a basketball game)and their offer sheets. The willfull ignorance of some people (looking at you, Fly) to ignore the obvious is freaking killing this basketball program.

Not to knock the kid but I'd prefer to still have Trey Norris....

It was JJ who ran off Robinson and Norris though correct? Do my knowledge and everything I read on twitter and heard from players via Facebook was that it was between them, JJ, and play time. Forest was never happy from day one though. Edited by Andrew

Wrong

This is seriously one of the worst post I've read in a long time. JJ had nothing to do with Norris leaving. It wasn't his choice to transfer

Then I understood wrong. I was just going off of conversation had outside of these boards. I just know it was not under Benford's watch. Maybe he left because he wasn't getting minutes. Idk. I am only going off of what I have seen. I was talking about trey not PJ. Might not have been driven out by Benford, but it was define lay under his watch.

However I did ask it as a question because I was not 100%. Rarely am as I would assume most people are as well.

I don't know Robinson's situation. I think he wanted more playing time , but the coaches & doctors didn't want to risk his health. I think he was gone regardless. I don't think Benford even had a chance to talk with him

No, you're wrong!! Players have a genuine interest in giving insider info to Andrew. I know I fully believe that our basketball players have personal relationships with him.

I only said that is not the way I read into it... For PJ and up I know it was all under Benford regardless of the reason for leaving. I will trust 03 though. He seems genuine.

If you paid attention, you would know that Norris was PJ's host on his recruiting trip to UNT.

He was then let go for the guy he helped recruit.
