On a blustery, cold morning off Airport Road Wednesday, a U.S. Olympian hoisting an AR-15 at the Denton Police Department gun range drew a flock of media attention.

Former UNT football star Johnny Quinn's picture tweeted from the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, started it all. At the time, he was just a receiver-turned-bobsledder stuck in a bathroom. He had no idea the photo of him busting out would garner so much attention worldwide. But it did, and it caught the eye of Denton police Officer Ryan Grelle.

“I followed him while he played football for UNT here, but I never have met him until now,” Grelle said Thursday morning. “When I saw his tweet during the start of the Olympic games, I initiated contact, since he does have a history here.”

Last night at the end of the Channel 8 Nightly News show, the Channel 8

news had a quick story and video about Johnny Quinn working with

the Denton SWAT team. The video featured Johnny breaking in 2 doors, and

shooting targets with a pistol. I noticed Johnny was shooting left handed,

and was hitting the target.

Nice story, but there was no interview with Johnny during the video.

I don't think that's a very good picture of him, unless it's standard to show your teeth while breaking down a door.

For him it was.

I was like come on dude, my photos are gonna make you look goofy and it really bugged me that he did that every time when he used the battering rams but oh well, it's what he did.

Here's the slideshow of Johnny Bobsled with the DPD Tactical Team.

Johnny was showing them how to Quinning on the door. They were showing Johnny how to use "cheater material" (explosives). :-P
