Hear is the deal.. i went to go check on how Jones is doing at LSU and well.. he isn't doing much better than the guy they had before him. (.500) winning avg.
Could we maybe bring him back to North Texas.. i know this is a stretch but i really dont like Benford. I miss my bro!

He's got the following recruits committed...

2014
Josh Gray (JUCO) PG Odessa, TX Odessa C.C. - 4 stars
Elbert Robinson C Garland, TX Lakeview Centennial - 4 stars
2015
Ben Simmons SF Montverde, FL Montverde Academy - 5 stars

He has been working in a loaded recruiting class from last season and with these guys signed up to join him in Baton Rouge, I think LSU will exhibit plenty of patience with one of their own.

LSU was 40-54 (12-36 in SEC) the last 3 seasons under Trent Johnson

JJ is 37-24 (18-18 in SEC) in his 1st 2 seasons

If he can convince JOB to return for his senior season they are a sweet 16 team next year

I really liked Johnny Jones. But he was about a .500 coach here. It's hard to overcome, for winning percentage purposes, the first year or two as a head coach. But North Texas should be able to get someone to come in that could put together better than 15-15 with a losing record in conference play.

Having said that, nobody's done it yet.

Beat Texas

I have a good friend who is extremely plugged into Tiger athletics at a high level and says basketball expectations are much less than football and they will give J.J. enough time to be "respectable".

Look, I know that some folks never thought JJ was that great considering his 56% or so, overall winning percentage. It did take him a few years to really get the ship pointed north. However, one must also remember he took over from 20-87 the four years prior to coming here.

Was JJ a world beater at NT? No, and I am the first to admit that. But, he built a very solid foundation to where it seemed like we were on the verge of really breaking through. I still think last year might have been that season if LSU hadn't hired him away.

Did he win a CUSA tournament game? CASE CLOSED.
