Under a 24 point margin? Go find a pair of scissors...then...cut every cord on your computer. With attitudes such as that we will be dog paddling behind Olympic swimmers forever.

Is what it is, my friend.

Would you settle for a Georgia-esqe performance?

We lost by 24 to them.

Everyone actually hopes for a win. I expect us to keep if under 24. How is that?

People need to understand there is a very real possibility we lose this game by 40 plus.

Oh, and no cords on a cell phone, so just pray my battery runs out soon.

No way we lose by 40, no way. We aren't Savannah St or Jacksonville St. That's not going to happen. I think we will keep it respectful, barring momentum swings who knows what will happen.

You're new at this, obviously.

All it takes for any Texas team playing against UT is a few momentum swings. Couple that with some home cooking via refs and any team is a potential lopsided victim.

Yes, we could. We have zero experience at QB. If we can't run the ball and start throwing picks, it could be a VERY long day.

We played our asses off at Georgia for 2 1/2 quarters, but their depth got to us in the end. And that was a FAR more experienced UNT team than will take the field against UT. UT gets whatever athletes they want. They will have better athletes than Georgia had last year.

With so many questions, I would be thrilled if we kept it close for a half and lost by 3 TDs.

Of course we all HOPE for an upset, and maybe having to adjust to Charlie Strong's system will help keep it close for a while, but the odds of victory are extremely long, my friend.

Alright I've been biting my tongue but they aren't a rival folks. Besides the fact that they are in-state we play them once in a blue moon. You're embarrassing yourselves by pretending it is and t-sips is a Texas A&M term. As much as I'd love to beat them, I won't pretend this is some type of storied rivalry..

Storied only when it comes to the refereeing.

Every season, some huge underdog team beats a BCS team. After us, Texas hosts BYU (remember last year) and then they travel to UCLA. There's bigger programs after us. I'm not interested in making a wager, but, why not North Texas ?

Beat Texas

I think we can make a game of it. UT has a lot of question marks and a new staff. We are coming off a great season and playing very confident football. UT historically plays horrible football the first game or two, even when they're good. I'm just not going to get in a pissing match with their obnoxious fans or write checks the players have to cash. This game won't make or break the season. Since it's in my back yard I'll be there early and in green. Win or lose, I want the kids to play hard, play fair, and be relentless. You do that more often than not, good things happen.

You're going to be very surprised at how close the talent margin really is.

There's way too much UT partiality on here.

Acknowledging reality = UT partiality? I'm not a big fan to UTs dominance in the state either but it is what it is. They are in the Capitol, don't have to compete with any pro teams, and have oil money out in west Texas on top of all the massive, just ridiculously massive alumni donations they receive. It has almost become a pro team for sure and their coach usually gets paid in the ballpark of most NFL coaches. Is it fair? No. Is it reality? Yes.

Wow...some people on here crack me up. Those "realists" clearly have been too influenced by UT's "dominance" ...but could that be past dominance? UT for the past few years has been a very beatable team and I don't think they'll all of the sudden become a national powerhouse like FSU in less than a year. It will take time if Strong gets to that point at all. We have a realistic shot at beating them, and yes, we might very well end up losing but there is absolutely no "certainty" they'll beat us by 3+ TD's.

Acknowledging reality? You mean like ULM and Appalachian State did these last few years? Both of those schools understood the basic concept of "I didn't come here to lose"....it's about time that we as fans did too. Because if we don't believe/expect our team to beat Texas, then why should our team?

The longhorns should be no more concerned about us than the Dallas Cowboys would be....pro franchises should always beat college teams.

Ridiculous! The Cowboys, or any NFL team, would beat UT 200 to 0.

UGA's depth is not what got us beat. Allowing a 99 yard touchdown off play action pass is what allowed them to open it up. Our inability to run the football and/or our inability to open it up rather than running at 8 man fronts is what got us beat. If we try to run the football 40 times at a decent P5 defensive line we will lose 10/10 times. We stopped UGA from running the ball for the most part and that is what kept us lingering around. Gurley while playing all 4 quarters had his lowest output in yards and YPC against us. So the plan was obviously to stop the run. Only problem was Uga had the most statistically decorated QB in SEC history slinging it for 400 yards on us. Bottom line is this, if we try to out-muscle UT and pound the the ball why even show up? Because that game plan will do nothing except get us beat. You play to win, and Mac needs to understand that going into this game on Aug 30th.

I would hope those realities would motivate the players even more. Nothing I said was a false statement, and they include the numerous advantages they have over us at this point. They don't mean we have to lose, just that obviously the cards are stacked against us. Trust me I have two siblings who go to or graduated from UT and they dismiss or talk condescendingly about UNT from time to time and I would love nothing more than beating them in Austin. But calling them t-sips and begging them to take us seriously is just embarrassing in my opinion.

Well, then, we have zero shot of winning, according to you.

Mac ain't gonna open up the offense. Not at UT starting a QB with zero FCS experience.

Ain't.

Gonna.

Happen.

Hell, if we had DT back for a sixth year, Mac wouldn't "open up the offense." Why? Because that is not what Mac does.

Mac is going to try to beat Texas and every other team with solid defense, exceptional special teams, and limited turnovers (read: lots if 1st and 2nd down runs). It's what he has done his entire time at UNT.

UT won't be different.

Dude. They're HS kids.

And their view is not unique to them, or to "high school kids"

This whole story made me laugh, picturing it in my head. A grown man arguing with high school kids..

tumblr_ltmcz1t7QO1qiros0o1_500.gif

Didn't know that informing them that the article was a joke, and that she didn't even use current pictures constituted "arguing". Thanks for clarifying.

I hate T-sips as well, because I'd "rather kill myself than go to UT."

Anyway, this is kinda pathetic. I'm filing this under "things that really happened" or these kids went home and told their parents about how some creepy NT alum told them off.

Once again, informing someone of facts when they happen to be standing right next to you, does not constitute "arguing" or "telling them off"

I know where to find a good registered database of folks who like to engage in conversations with teens whenever they are nearby if anyone's interested. You can even search by zip code.
