First UNT Practice of 2014 Observations

Because it is fun.

And prideful.

You old crusty types really should embrace that your school is finally getting some spirit even it doesn't meet your standard of spirit or pageantry.

(But if it helps, one day when we are consistently slaying the programs we shouldn't, and someone asks: "Why do your students chant "caw"? You can say: "Because we make a lot of teams and their fans eat crow.")

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say "Snatch 'em" or "Swoop 'em"? Making crow noises for an eagle is like making donkey noises for a longhorn.

...or whilst putting up the talon say "Claw em" or "Tear em".

I have to say. This discussion has come a long way since the days around the end of the Vietman war when a student committee decided that "Scrappy" sounded to war-like and so the mascot was re-named "Eppy". That very sad and emasculating act has since been reversed....thank goodness.

tohru_fml_meme_by_thelastunicorn1985-d4sThis. This is awesome. As far as bird sounds...no. We should stop that in its tracks right now. I think the green and white pom-poms should be distributed throughout the stadium and not just in the student section. Wave your pom-pom during 95% of the game and lets stick to the North/Texas chant and that will about do it for me. GMG

How about simply "Go Mean Green!"

And now to learn DT has a possible NFL shots reminds those who doubted him that he just finished career making him the

second leading QB in UNT history

Where does DT stand in terms of NFL "shot"? I haven't heard anything about his chances, just that he is going for it.

Hell, I could go for it. I know I would not make it but, by this board's definition, I am having a shot!

(infer whatever you like from that last part)

He already attended a regional combine and was invited to the Super Regional Combine in Detroit on April 12th.

Last year the Super Regional was in Dallas and here is the list of the attendees

You don't think we could use a bit more Snatch?

BTW, I haven't seen anything on the links and bios, is Cousins any relation to Kirk Cousins?

Ags Say Gig'm, Horns Hook 'um, Guns up, Sic 'em. Everyone has their dumb little things. I like the bird noises still don't know how that was relevant to the discussion but it sure is taking off. I agree with 97and03 it's a blast.

As others have mentioned, "Go Mean Green" works great. Making the call of a crow is silly. Then again, I am old.

I love the caw caw. What is it about getting old and only appreciating nostalgia? I'm mid 40s and having to fight that thing, whatever it is. Pretty soon I'll be chasing kids out of my yard and jerking their sagging pants up. Carry on with your caw caws!! I'm choosing to stay young and "with it."

2003 UT Game...a cute UT co-ed is walking up the stairs, catches her foot and trips (seemingly harmlessly) forward...my buddy, who we'll call "Cory Curveball", sees this happen a row or two ahead of him and without hesitation jumps out into the aisle, stands over the fallen co-ed and while flapping his arms with a double talon gives off a loud "CAW-CAAAAW".

I caw-caw for Cory.

I am in my mid 40's too and "Caw Caw" is the equivalent of Arkansas fans mooing.
