After the first day of the conference meet the men are 7th out of 10 teams and the women 13th out of 13. They should move up a little, but the track program after building the last couple of years looks to be on a steep decline. The women finished second the last two years in the Belt, so their result thus far are very disappointing. It shouldn't be that big a jump in competition, heck UTSA is doing very well.

I wonder if resources have been yanked or the use of Fouts for track is a big turnoff for recruits. I know the distance coach that was replaced was supposed to be very good and he was replaced with a relatively inexperienced person. I know that resources are always a factor, but I hate to see any NT program go backwards.

Bad day all around for NT sports. Girls basketball team get clobbered at home by La Tech. Softball team loses two tough games. Track teams were miserable, with both teams finishing in ninth place. Also lackluster performance in the swimming conference championships.

disappointing day for sure.

-swimming's 5th place finish was right smack dab in the middle of CUSA

-the lack of any final day information on track & field should tell us all we need to know about track's position in the athletic department. I bet you're right about resources getting yanked...seems like the official announcement of baseball will also be the death knell of men's indoor track, if not men's track overall - outdoor and indoor. However, that's no excuse for the women's program.

- and Fouts is still a whole heckuva lot better than some of the Big 5 schools track & field facilities. While maybe not the ideal home, Fouts is a better home for our track programs than say our current soccer "stadium" is for our soccer team. I'd like to see the women's basketball team move to cozier confines than the Super Pit, as well. Is it possible to move back to the Snake Pit, or even a slightly expanded volleyball arena? ...would make for better home court atmospheres.
