Kerr is a grease trap of poorly cooked food and cold hamburgers ran and staffed by convicts who willingly pick their nose while serving you their food. (Many are ACTUAL felons.)

Clark is closed.

Mean Greens is proud of their PETA designation. (??)

West is good if you read the menu beforehand, great southern cooking.

Bruce is hit or miss, but usually pretty good (now), as it was absolutely miserable until they expanded it. Felt like eating at a soup kitchen.

I don't see how they won a competition when cafeterias like Kerr exist.

Nobody picks us because of our food choices. I can eat at real restaurants and chains at other schools with meal plans. Not at NT.

Clark is closed...permanently, or are they refurbishing it? Anyway I wouldn't recommend taking prospects to "square pizza and chicken tenders" (though sometimes it's soooo good when that's what you want). I figure learn a bit about the student and pick a meal (or meals) at a cafeteria that fits their preferences. And like I said...the negative aspects you describe based on a couple of them being a little...less than hoped, that's ALL I hear from friends that went to ASU, Kent State, Sac State, etc., etc. So when I was on campus (yes I know that makes me sound old), it was "yeah, Bruce is usually pretty good, stir fry at West is decent, a couple of the others are okay sometimes, and it's nice that at least Clark is open late"...but the awards didn't seem as likely then, either. Then when I got older and swapped "campus life" stories with other people, Kerr sounded like it's about the top level of where their cafeterias were. So while definitely not perfect (and yes, of course you can always eat off campus), we're in a far better situation than a lot of others are.

Meangreener obviously never knew the joy of eating Kerr burgers late at night after a long night of drinking.

Did Kerr end up open all night or something?

BTW...best drunk burger EVER...Cool Beans' bean burger. Usually pretty cheap too. If you haven't tried it...ermagerd.

Ah, so nothing has really changed.

Are the pizza slices still the rectangle ones we used to get in elementary school? C'mon y'all. You know pizza day was the best day.

Not at Boswell HS. My son and his fellow football team mates loved Chicken Fried Steak day.

In my old school, it was dinner rolls day. The lunch ladies would make fresh from scratch yeast rolls.

The point about the "all you can eat chicken fried steak day" is almost sad...when I was there everything was all you could eat. I know, for the sake of cost, they had to change the meal plans, but for the students it was awesome. "Hey, Jesse, you're back already?" "Nope, still eating. I'm HONGRY."

How times change. In the early 70's, you could only eat in the dorm in which you lived. I lived in West my freshman year so if I had a class in the Admin building for example, I had to walk back to West to have lunch. Obviously not very convenient or smart. There was only one entree for each meal and no concessions were made for those with any allergies or such.

For me, the worse part is that the dining rooms were closed on Sunday night so you were on your own.

On the plus side, I was introduced to Texas cuisine such as King Ranch Chicken, Frito Pie and my favorite, Chicken Fried Steak.
